I am officially a level 0. I have never been tested.
Unofficially I have done all of the skills necessary to pass level 5 and I can do a good portion of the level 6 skills. But I’m still a level 0 because I have never gone through an official or even unofficial test.
Keep in mind that to say you are a level 5 you have to do all of the necessary skills under testing conditions. Just because you can do all of the skills when you are just riding around on your own doesn’t mean that you can do them under official testing conditions. A detailed description of the testing process is here: The 10 Skill Levels of Unicycling. Doing an official test is more difficult because you have to deal with a little bit of pressure. You can only mess up 3 times during the test and only get one redo per skill. There is also the issue of the different mounts required. You can’t ignore the mounts. It all adds up to being more difficult to officially pass a level than to say “Hey, I can do all those skills for level 5. That makes me a level 5.”.
And just being able to do a few of the Level 6 skills does not make you a level 6.
One of these days I may get officially tested, but I have never felt the need and I’m rather proud of the fact that I’ve managed to maintain my Level 0 status.
where dop you get officially tested at? like an uni convention or what have you?
POW
You can get officially tested at a convention. You can also visit a club that has an official tester and get tested. For example you could visit the TCUC or the Panther Pride Demo Team and get officially tested. There are other clubs that also have official testers.
If you cannot get to an official tester is is also possible to send in a video tape to the USA of you doing the skills. Then someone will review the tape and let you know if you did it right. The tape has to be all one shot from start to end. You cannot turn off the camera in the middle. There can be no edits.
You also need to be a member of the USA to get official recognition for the levels.
I am (unofficial) level five. I rode level five once a couple months ago without any dismounts. I can do everything on level six except seat on side in circle to the left. I can do most of the stuff on seven and eight, and several moves on levels nine and ten. Hopefully someday I will have an opportunity to be officially tested. My current goal is to achieve level ten within the next three or four years.
Sound unique. But how can you be ‘officially’ at a level when you’ve never been tested? I would say (at the most) you would ‘officially’ be level 0 if you failed an official test at level 1 (and never passed one later, duh). Now you have ‘no official level’, not unique at all.

I’m not a level 9, but I play one on TV.
That is, if you buy the Skill Levels video, you’ll see me demonstrating level 9 (and falling a bunch of times in the outtakes at the end).
I am officially level 7, and will remain there until the next set of levels comes out. I don’t like the hand wheel walk of level 8.
As John Childs mentioned, if you have never been tested you are level nothing. Being able to do each trick is not the same as being a certain level. Until you’ve been tested you are not there. You can say “I’m a level 7 equivalent” if you have self-tested.
If you can only do the tricks but have never actually tried to run through the level tests, you are still level nothing, and not equivalent to level much-of-anything. Practice testing is fine to figure out your equivalent.
The new skill level system being developed by Carol McLean’s group is intended for USA members only. I don’t think this will go over well, as there isn’t a great incentive to join the USA these days, especially if you don’t live in North America. But the levels should be a huge improvement over the current system.
A little off topic, but someone menioned one foot backward riding. I’ve only tried it a few times, and 4 revolutions is my best effort. It seems very counterintuitive and weird feeling–like I could fly off and crack my melon. Seems harder than other tricks in level 8-but I’m no freestyler, that’s for sure.

I think backward one-footed is the easiest thing on level eight, after the one-footed figure eights, and is certainly far easier then the pirouette and the backward spin. When trying to learn it, concentrate on pulling the pedal back up through the dead spot with your foot. Also, it might help to try different ways of getting into it. You can do it from backward riding, one-footed riding, or one-footed idling. Personally, I found it easiest from one-footed riding.
haha im only a unofficial level 4 and i can do a pirotte on my 28"
POW
Three full revolutions? Its pretty easy to do one revolution, but to do the pirouette on the skill levels you have to do three revolutions on one point on your tire without pedalling.
yes three full hardcore revalutions. as in spinning 1080 degrees that is me!!
