Level 10

Christian Hoverath passed Level 10 of the USA skill levels last week. He
is the sixth person to achieve that milestone.

Christian is a member of Twin Cities Unicycle Club in Minnesota as well as
Dorsten Unicycle Club in Germany. He lives in Germany but visits TCUC when
he gets a chance.

I asked Christian if he was going to work on ‘Level 11’. He said he would
think about it.

What’s “Level 11”? I have got a record of a rock group called Level 42.
Skillful music indeed

Congratulations, Christian. I am certainly envious.

Oh, by the way, the other 5 level 10 riders were quite young (are quite young still and, to some, will remain young always). How old is Christian?

Congratulations Christian on level 10!

Many years ago I decided to skip levels 8-10 and go straight to work on
level 11. Please don’t make us nail down exactly what it is…

Hi,

> How old is Christian?

I’m 18 years old. I have been riding for 8 years and passed Level 1 to 7
at UNICON IX in Bottrop in 1998. I never really worked on the Levels until
I passed Level 8 last April. Because I thought that Level 10 could be
possible, I started to work on the backwards pirouette, since this was the
only trick(skill) I never really worked on before in Levels 9 and 10. When
I vistied the Cities again for New Year’s, I passed these levels.

One of the funnier stories that came with it: My suitcase didn’t arrive
with me (it took them 7 days to trace it), and so I neither had my
unicycle nor any clothes. I borrowed a shirt, shorts, shoes and a unicycle
for that practice and wore only socks that were my property. It was the
second day I was there, and on the third we bought new t-shirts and
underwear. So we washed my socks, boxers and shirt and I put them in a
plastic bag. When it was time to get ready to leave (by then my suitcase
was finally there, so I could pack it) I just packed the bag as a whole.
When I unpacked, my mom was sitting next to me and when I when I got to
that little plastic bag, I pulled the socks out first, because they were
on top. My Mom asked me if there was something special about them or why
they were seperated from my other stuff. I threw them her way and said
(just kidding) “Yeah, they are my level 10 socks!” When I came home from
school the next day they were hanging on my wall, both saying “Level 10”
on one side and “12/28/01” on the other side. That really made me laugh.
Just thought I’d share this, cuz it was so funny (at least for me. Maybe
it was just these weird socks hanging on my wall that made me laugh).

Level 11 is what every creative unicyclist’s eventual goal is. Think about it

Does anyone know the names of these skill giants? Or maybe a list is
maintained online of the top league?
