Tuesday I got My Torker unistar LX 24" and have been learning how to ride it. I’ve noticed that on the inside of the wrench like things that conect the pedal to the wheel (what are they called?) there are an R and an L. The front of the uni is labeled Front But the right side has an L on it and the left side has a R on it. Does that mean that they were put on backwards? And if so does it matter? Thanks
When you are sitting on the seat facing forward, the pedal with the R should be on the right side, and the pedal with the L should be on your left. It does matter. The reason is that the pedals will unscrew while you ride if they aren’t on the correct sides.
Good luck in your riding.
Yep, you could just flip the seat around, so that you are ridding with the frame backwards, but causing you to have the right crank and left crank on the right sides. My advice is to take off the wheelset, and flip it aorund so you have everything facing teh right way.
If you leave them on the wrong side, you can mess up your pedals and canks, leading to buying enw ones.
why flip the wheel set? WHy not just unscrew the pedals, switch the sides, would that not be correct?
No. The pedals have left hand threads on the left pedal and right hand threads on the right pedal. The cranks have coresponding female threads to accommodate each side. The cranks must be removed and swapped.
