learning to muni is crowding out my normal

workouts. Before, I did bootcamp twice a week, weights or run twice a week, mtn bike twice a week. Now I just muni either on trails or a back road. So to get back to a more balanced fitness schedule I have been doing 20 pushups after any UPD. This adds up to alot of pushups on rough trails, not so much on the road. Now thinking of more ways to ramp up a fitness program that incorporates several activities with the muni. Anyone in the same frame of mind ? Sugestions ?

try riding to like a pool swim ride to the gym work out and ride home

gorgescrambler: I’ve been doing various activities to get and stay fit over the past two years. I have to say that I am really surprised how intense unicycling is as a workout. The workout is undoubtedly different for a skilled rider compared to a noob. But as a noob I could throw on a pair of wrist weights and would be nearly getting a full body workout.

I’ll be watching this thread.

Today I went to the YMCA to do weights and then rode the muni home, which is an interesting ride in that it is 2/3 sidewalk and 1/3 single track. 40 minutes at the Y and 50 minutes riding home.
Tomorrow will be an hour of muni on some rough trails and then a run if my stamina holds up.

yes! I’ve always tried to use my bikes / uni as transportation. two birds with one stone. very efficient, and green!

I just ride muni, it’s plenty of work, esp if I ride hard stuff. I typically ride three or four times a week, one to three hours per ride.

Build up your stamina and skills up so you don’t UPD as much, a sustained ride is more of a work out than starting and stopping. Go ride up some hills or ride on hot days, that’ll work ya come Summer.

If you can afford one, get a big wheel and try cranking off road.

or ride some street and trials go to pool chill then ride some more and be dead and do it all tomarrow

I have an openended bet with my wife that if I can qualify for NY Marathon that I don’t have to work anymore! My first 2 years of training I was running 4-6 times a week. This lasts year I decided to cross train instead of running. I hate running. My philosophy is: I only run if being chased or chasing someone with a ball." This last year I ran twice a week, municycled twice a week, mountain biked twice a week and would swim once a week! My marathon time was 17 seconds slower than last year by cross training. Plus I have a a whole lot less injuries to show for it too!
