Late Term Abortions

I think late term abortions should be legal, up to at least 16 years old.

I can think of a few times that may have come in handy

You only get to express an opinion on this if you have children. Not because you’ve been annoyed by a screaming kid in a restaurant or on a plane. Period.

I have to admit to having muttered in my childrens’ general directions “Is it too late to have an abortion?”

That’s fair, but did I tell you I’m also a tutor / part-time teacher? Partial credit.

so those of us who are simply anti-murder don’t get a say if we don’t have kids? Darn (although i think my stance is pretty clear)

I know someone that had one (she was in another country where although its still illegal it was easier to get safely). She regrets it happening because it was a traumatic experience, and the fact that she wanted the child (it was her parents decision as she was way to young to be having it anyways). She did agree though that it was the better thing to happen to her, and that had she had the child it would have been certainly bad for her, and probably ruined her life, aswell as the better thing for her family as at the time they would not have been able to support another child.

I agree with the fact that they should be illegal for obvious reasons but I think that there are circumstances where one can be justified. What makes me sad is that sexual education isn’t taught well enough, particularly in other places in the world. Many unwanted pregnancies could be avoided if people were taught proper forms of contraception, sex happens, abstinance can only get you so far, but if you teach both ends of the spectrum it will do everyone a world of good. My friend who got pregnant had never been taught about condoms and other forms of contraception, their schooling on such things consisted of the teachers saying, this is how sex works, don’t do it until you are ready, contraceptions exist, and thats it.

Another major issue with late term abortions is the fact that only the wealthy, well informed, or criminal can recieve them, and because it is illegal it means that the people who are getting them often aren’t getting them in sterile, and safe ways. It also means that more money is going to criminals, and that the only people who are able to carry these out are now corrupted.

It would be like a police officer planting evidence on a murderer who he witnessed murder someone but is going to get off on a technicality, morally he may be doing the right thing, but at what point can you draw the line between being a criminal and doing the right thing.

I don’t really think there can ever be a right answer as to yes these things should be legal, and no they should definatly be illegal, everyone will see it differently and arguing over it will get you nowhere because it always comes down to opinions.

Funnily enough, I don’t think Blunt is actually advocating the murder of 15 year olds.

But you never know, I could be wrong.

Have to say i don’t think its right , as a girl, although i do not have any children of my own i hope to in the future and i certainly feel now that if for some reason i got pregnant then i could never have an abortion, after learnign about it in GCSE RE, it made me realise that i could never live with it if i had taken away the chance of a persons life, the moment he/she was made they had a whole little life ahead of them and if i would have taken that all from them.

I think this is an issue upon which everyone is entitled to have their say…note THEIR say. If abortion, morning after pill, or even contraceptive use is against your ideals for yourself , then fair enough, don’t take part. I don’t think that for an issue as life-changing as this, you are entitled to force someone else to have an unwanted child.

Fair enough to say that you should have been more careful…or abstained? But accidents, rape, medical problems and ignorance do happen.
To call abortion murder is to apply attention seeking headlines inappropriately to the matter.

And at six billion the population of the world is not sustainable for much longer. If abortion is one of the few tools we have to help control population then so be it. We need to ensure that the kids that are born are really wanted.

Educate as much as you want. British kids have to learn that sex is not just something to do once they are bored with their playstation. It has rather more consequences than being beaten by an on screen Darth Vader.

Only as a last resort and each case should be reviewed by the authorities.

Except it should apply to daughters too, and you should be allowed to announce it somewhere other than Israel. They have enough to fear as it is.

Guys… this was a joke thread. He didn’t mean a 16yo getting an abortion, he said aborting someone who was 16. Late term. Get it?

sigh

I got it. Did I really need a smiley?

If it’s one student at a time, no. If it’s a class full and for at least 8 hours a week, yes.

Ha! I am 17, I barely got past the deadline!

Pun intended.
