I told the wife that since they come in a two-pack, that obviously, I’ll need two unicycles. Otherwise that other valve stem decoration would go to waste!

To faceplant (on the road) you need to be a good rider, riding at such high speeds that you can’t handle in an UPD 
Yes, on the muni it is different.
It isn’t too hard to get a face plant. Just put your feet in between the spokes.
Besides I have a free-style 20" unicycle, that I once took outside on the pavement, but I couldn’t didn’t see a protruding tile, which blocked my wheel and sent me down in a faceplant, which I could just barely catch with my hands. Im not good at rolling and one of these days I will surely break something.
You make face planting too complicated. Others use simple shoe laces for it.

I have special unicycle shoes with very short shoelaces that are always tied. I can just slip my feet into them. Also today I plan a short round after work and put the shoes and the uni in the back of my car. Riding with shoes with soft springy soles get stuck in the pins I have in all of the pedals. My uni shoes have hard flat soles, so I can hop off in case of a UPD. Faceplants shouldn’t happen to me (knocking on wood)
