Last Comic Standing is back..yeah!

First show if the new season airs tonight, nbc, 9:30pm PST.
I really enjoy this show, partly because I used to do standup and can relate. The host is pretty weak though, imo. :o

Kill your television.

Support your local comics. Go to a comedy club instead!

I do go. The Comedy & Magic Club in Hermosa beach is right around the corner, and Leno has been doing Sunday nights for years and years! I know the owner and even performed there once many years ago and it was a huge thrill!

But the show is cool too because it gives new up & coming comics a chance to be seen nationwide, which can be a big boost to their careers, so I also support them by watching; if nobody watched, then ratings would suffer, the show would be cancelled and then these aspiring comics wouldn’t have this chance to be seen by the masses.

And pretty much every comic who appears on the show, namely the better ones who make the cut, have been performing for years in clubs, writing and honing their acts to get the chance to be TV, so I think that’s a good thing. Win win.

I kinda still am…I just do it on a smaller scale, here and there in my videos, lol.

lol… that’d be good.

The one guy mentioned a unicycle! Lol!

 Oh, it’s not on 'till 9:30pm my time (pst).

I watched one season of last comic standing, it was horrid.

Hardly any of the comics had any personality or flair, they were just robots reading jokes. The only good ones where voted out. A good stand-up comic should be able to make people laugh without jokes. My most succesfull piece to date was fully impro using a pair of straws which i introduced as snow man arms.

I dont believe that any of them have been performing for years in local clubs.

I’m with meastro, support live local comedy! Come along and cheer me on… Or come late and cheer me up after the show

I watched an episode before, but halfway through I turned it off and watched David Cross and Ricky Gervais on youtube instead. If you haven’t seen their standup, I highly recommend it…especially David Cross.

What? listening to Gervais sprouting facts and telling everyone how smart he is? That being said, he is hilarious.
But they are proffesional comediens, you cannot compare them with beginners.

I watched it last night  true it was funny, but they where all the same. I have taken part In what i guess what would be called the Australian Equivilent (on a smaller scale) and basically behind the scenes you are taught stand-up techniques etc by proffesionals. Granted, it works, but in the same sense it churns out generic comics. It is hard to drop a habit you have been taught to be correct (not that i am saying it isn’t correct) It’s not as much people developing there own style its passing styles on to other people.

Its the same with Australian Idol.

Also i think it would be more rewarding if you worked your way up from the bottom without that ‘kickstart’.

If anyone say the first episode last week one of the comics was making fun of unicyclists.

Yep, that’s what comics do.:stuck_out_tongue:
