I’m thinking of saving up for a laptop(as well as many other things) and was wondering how people like apple laptops. right now I’m thinking of this one I would get the black one.
I would use it for school purposes, video editing/making, browsing the internet, photoshop, and I want to use it to learn how to do 3D animation.
I think that’s faster than my computer (emac, really old, slow, etc. etc.) which runs (not “runs well”) apple’s Final Cut Express, which is an excellent video editing program, as far as I can tell. Of course, it also comes with imovie, but Final Cut is just SO good… I think you can get a discount on final cut when you buy the compy, at least that’s what we did.
I’m not sure what you don’t get with the new MacBooks, that you would get with a MacBook Pro. My 17" PowerBook became obsolete when those came out in January, and until this one becomes too slow to use, I will lust after the new 17" MacBook Pro: http://tinyurl.com/znby4
That shows the way I would configure it, including Aperture software and the protection plan, which bumps the price up a bit…
Glossy screen? Go with the one with the anti-glare coating, unless you really enjoy having reflections in your display. Most PC laptops have a glossy screen which are horible to look at under any lighting. Macs are about the only ones you can get now with the anti-glare coating.
i used a mac for the first time yesterday for video editing. used i movie. it was great! cept it was on an old emac. so, yeah, im no expert, but id say go for it.
You’re probably right. I was taking a guess on that one, and would research it more before actually purchasing. I think the display on my 2004 PowerBook looks just fine.
I’d get a MacBook if I didn’t already have an iBook that’s not old enough to be worth upgrading yet. I am upset that Apple decided to go with a glossy screen. Maybe the 2nd version won’t have the gloss.
