Lame...

So I was at an AEPi rush event last night and some guy rides by on an old KH20. This being the first trials unicycle besides my own I have seen on campus I asked him if he wanted to ride some time. He said yes, but then I returned to the group. A guy there was confused and downright angry that anybody would ride a unicycle to get around campus, calling such people “show offs” and “idiots.” I told him it’s a pretty effective form of travel because the walks are too crowded to ride a bike and I don’t know how to stop a skateboard while flying down a hill.

But he wasn’t buying it.

It’s almost enough to make me not pledge AEPi…but not quite.

Is there some mystery of the skateboard I’m missing, or is this dude just a jerk?

Dude is just being a queef.

Both.

You can drag a foot to slow yourself down on a skateboard.

You can run into a lot of a**holes at a frat.

Maybe you should be asking yourself why you need to pledge. If you wanna have a memorable college experience, join a club or three, do some extracurriculars, go out for an intramural sport, no need to pledge.

there’s a lot more ridicule coming your way if you want to join a fraternity. i agree with meastro, no need to pledge.

That reaction was because he felt challenged. His self esteem isn’t strong enough that he can handle not being the best at everything, so when someone comes along doing something he can’t do he’s going to hate them.

My wife’s ex-boyfriend was like this. I met my wife when she was still dating him, and he hated me. He refered to me as “the clown” and was always bitching about how I sucked so much because I had dyed hair, juggled, and road a uni. I got him back by stealing his girlfriend and marrying her. I think he’s gay now. No joke.

It doesn’t have to be like that. All fraternities are not the same. I was in a fraternity and never got any flack about unicycling, occasionally playing the accordion, being in the marching band, listening to classical music, or many other non-traditional greek things. I would have probably gotten more flack about my activities had I been in the dorms.

Find a fraternity that fits you. They’re not all the same. I was in a fraternity that had a lot of engineering students (I was also in engineering). That may have had something to do with it being different from the stereotypical fraternity. So look around and see what fits you.

fraturnatiy?

I checked out a lot fo frats and AEPi really did seem like a good fit. It’s just the one guy, and he’s pretty cool in every other aspect.

And I have joined a lot of clubs. It’s week 1 and I’m already spread really thin bewteen classes, theatre, a dance team, college television, and pledging. We’ll see how it goes.

My fraternity brothers love the fact that I unicycle. I rode in the homecoming parade as the mad hatter. Don’t pledge aepi, who wants to be in an all jewish fraternity? Also, they are no good at softball, as evidenced by Pilam’s embarrassing 19-5 rout of them in Penn State IM softball.

Indeed. And fraternities are different from campus to campus as well. Finding one that suits you at your school is a good idea, though you may find that in other places, it isn’t so nice.

Joining a fraternity was one of the best things I did for myself in college. I have my current job thanks to connections I made through my fraternity, and I run into members everywhere I go. I also first learned to ride a unicycle because of another fraternity member who could ride and nagged me until I gave it a shot. Then he made me watch “One Tired Guy,” and the rest is history.

My avatar is a logo from my fraternity.

HaHa, a queef! LoL

Nice word choice
