Earlier I flipped to a TV show on the Weather Channel called Epic Conditions, because it just looked cool. This episode was mainly about North Shore and Freeride Mountain biking in Whistler and B.C. Canada, and had a couple segments with commentary by Kris Holm.
The reason this is in Just Conversation instead of RSU?
Unicycling wasn’t even mentioned.
Seems they just had him there to tell about geology in the area and so forth. The little banner at the bottom of the screen just said “Kris Holm, Professional Geologist.”
So he explains some stuff about Whistler mountain and local terrain, then the camera switches back to freeriders ripping it up on the mountain and they go on to other stuff.
Although later on during the show, they had him back on almost out of nowhere to comment on advances in bicycle equipment, and then something about the risks mountain bikers take in freeriding. Since when do they have a Professional Geologist discuss mountain biking?
Pretty interesting. I figured they would work in a couple quick shots of him unicycling, but it never happened.
Strange… maybe they did not know he unicycled? How ignorant of them…
Oh, and I like the way he’s giving advice to the two wheel gang, ironic really. I’d just tell em someone stuck an extra wheel to their uni and a lot of frame to get in the way haha.
Is being made from granite. Not graphite,… granite.
So many people have wanted to pretend they can ride like Kris, or better, in the same places. Kris has done the only thoughtful thing he could do for them, and designed a new uni to take on such attempts, to assure that not just your bones, but your uni as well shall be preserved forever. It is the lightest granite unicycle on the market, don’t cross a glacial abyss without one.
So of course Kris has had to study some geology to get the design right. Being the best rider today is one thing, but to make your rep last millions of years takes some research in application specific materials selection. As usual, Kris has thought this through.
