Do any of you fancy yourself with this fabulous hobby? I picked it up around Christmas, and this is what I am working on now, tis a harry potter scarf.

I don’t knit, but that’s a great scarf!
Re: Knitting
Are you saying you knitted that on a unicycle? I’m impressed.
Re: Knitting
> Do any of you fancy yourself with this fabulous hobby?
As I student I made about a dozen jumpers with colourful
designs, sadly now all consigned to history, except the
one I made my mother. One had Maxwell’s Equations
on the front (sad physicist), and more than one person
thought I was using it to cheat in exams! Not much help
for quantum mechanics or general relativity…
Anyhow, I’m still waiting for the inspiration to take up the
needles again and make one with a unicycle design.
Nice scarf. Reminds me of my first inspiration to knit -
Doctor Who ;-). [That’s Tom Baker for those of a certain
age.]

Re: Re: Knitting
ok, i’ll bite
what are maxwell’s equations?
Re: Knitting
Does your browser not support Google?
They are a set of four related equations that
unify electricity and magnetism. They are
very simple (if you like vector calculus), but describe
all the complex and varied behaviours of
electromagnetic fields.
It is simple to prove that electromagnetism is a
wave phenomenon travelling at the speed of light -
i.e. is light - this was a truly profound insight in the
19th century.
Sorry for being obscure.

why google when i can ask?
i share in the wu li masters’ interest in things way too complicated to understand
just another reason i really enjoyed weisbecker’s ‘cosmic banditos’

dude! we ride unicycles!
I knit, but haven’t done any in quite some time. I used to knit scarves for girlfriends which was always appreciated. And I made a couple of sweaters for my daughter when she was much younger. It is a very relaxing pasttime.
Here’s a thread in which someone says they have knitted while uni’ing:

And I though I was the only weird one around here… I knit and crochet also. People use to think I was strange because this was suppose to be “girls stuff”. I also built a set a bunk beds and do ceramics. But now at 51 it is Unicycles and roller blades. I might get a skateboard, we didn’t have them when I was a kid, we just nailed a old roller skate to a scrap piece of plywood.
Keep up the good work…Enjoy…Keith
I forgot…I like the Scarf. Reminds me of my first time.

I have knitted a woollen cap for myself when I was 25. My girlfriend
teached me and she thought it was cool I wanted to learn. But here in
the Netherlands knitting is considered very girlish. It’s now mainly
elderly women who knit. I gave up when I split with the girl.
My brother did embroidering. Even worse. He gave up too.

KNITTING
A highway patrolman pulled alongside
a speeding car on the freeway.
Glancing at the car,
he was astounded to see that the blonde
behind the wheel was knitting!
Realizing that she was oblivious
to his flashing lights and siren,
the trooper cranked down his window,
turned on his bullhorn and yelled,
“PULL OVER!”
“NO!” the blonde yelled back,
“IT’S A SCARF!”
I couldn’t help myself…I had to put this here.
I’m not seeing much knitted stuff… maybe the t-shirt?!

Irfanview. It’s a graphic viewer/convertor/editor program, free from
<http://www.irfanview.com>.
Use Options - Extract All Frames, then select the one you want and
convert if from bmp to gif.
