Kidderminster Yesterday

Another great day, enjoyed myself a lot.
But did anyone else find the floor (both halls) very slippery, far more so
than in the past meets. I came off, in unexpected circumstances more than
once, and saw others who looked to have done the same.
Had the floors been recently polished Steve?

there’s only one reason the halls were slippy:

step 1) Walk to other hall, tire gets wet
step 2) uni around in other hall, floor gets soaked
step 3) Walk back to the other hall, tire gets wet again
step 4) uni around in the hall, floor gets soaked.
step 5) loads of people do this
step 6) you slip all over the shop

it was still a great day though
James:)

Yep that was a blast.

Big thank you to all those that help organise these events.

Hope the shoulder gets better soon steve

Re: Kidderminster Yesterday

Twas a good day, much riding done and many more bruises earned.
The Hockey was fun, even if Roger believed me when I told him he wasn’t
allowed to score. Thanks to Steve and Jackie for organising the hall and
stuff.

Dave Mariner of DM unicycles was showing, and selling a New Ringmaster
Euro unicycle. This latest addition to the Ringmaster family looks like an
affordable uni (under 100 ukp), that would be good for free style
or hockey. With a handbuilt wheel, 2 inch tire, viscount saddle and flat
crown the Euro has DMs traditional attension to detail and the model on
sale yesterday had a rather fetching bluey purple paint job.

The raffle and tuck shop raised 50ukp towards a project to hire mini
busses
for taking a bunch of Uk riders to Eurocycle 2003, the funds will be held
by UUU untill needed. The lacey cosmetic bag was no where to be seen…

Paul failed to fail his UUU level One test, so is now officaly a Level
one unicylist - much to his disgust. Some other people also took Levels
one and two tests and passed. The UUU now has a small group of approved
UUU/IUF levels testers, more levels tests will be arranged at future UK
unicycle events if people want to do that kind of thing.
For those people going ,eh, what is she on about, UUU voted to adopt the
IUF levels as UUU levels back in the spring. We finnaly got round to
assesing some testers yesterday. Shooting stars certificates are unchanged
by this and compliment the UUU levels , see steve Grainger for info on
Shooting stars levels.

Indeed, I had a great time… another opportunity to put a face to the type, and meet up again with some people I hadn’t seen for ages.

Did I hear from someone that the hall had some problem with damp? To start with most of the hall was okay, it was just the edges; but towards the end the entire hall was really slippy; even an enthusiastic rollback mount would have you flying.

As is the way of things, I’ve put some photos up, and because of a nice new shiny camera a video of one of the eccentric bikes, too. I’ve not quite figured out how videos on the camera work yet; besides that there were a few videos of me staring at the camera trying to work out why it was flashing at me…

Phil, just me

Yes, I had a good time there too, and thanks to the organisers.

The floor did get worse as the day progressed. I think it was sweat from a red haired gentleman riding his new diverticycle.

As for putting names to faces, I identified a few people from this forum. Nice to meet you all, folks.

(I’m the skinny one who failed to sell the vintage uni, did buy a 28, and nearly learned to ride one footed.)

Hardly surprising as it was last seen by us in North Bend.

I still dispute this. The IUF instructions say that all skills
should be finished by riding out 3 revolutions. My dismount
didn’t finish with me on the uni!

Re: Kidderminster Yesterday

Yes the floor was very very slippery, and I have the bruises which show it.
I even fell, when just jumping off a bench in the corner without the uni
when my trainers just slid away from me. So I did less time with the uni
than at previos meetings.
My dad syas I have to apologize to anyone I scared while learning 5 clubs.
(him included). But it was worth it cos I managed 15 catches and am super
pleased.

Zyllan.

See you all again…I need to practice 5 knives and the ceiling at
home is too low

What a charmer you are, Mike. The gentleman in question has
not made the floor noticably slippy in the past.
