Man, this thing would just make my home theater complete. And just as I was starting to think about getting the KH24 freeride at almost the same price tag.

That is one sweet little box. I kinda seems that it should have a little LCD screen (like the kind used for Playstations) so it can be used without a separate monitor. The screen I’m thinking about would be cheap and not intended for prolonged use.
While on the topic of new Apple products, have you seen the new iPod Shuffle? That’s another cool little toy.
the ipod shuffle seems a tad too small. the ipod mini and its competitors were about as small as i’d want. not just for more storage either. in the words of my roommate, “why would i want to pay $100 for something i’d lose.”
The rumor of a sub-$500 mac was true. Though you have to buy/find/reuse the input and output devices.
I’d buy the uni - it won’t be obsolete in a year.
Sure, the uni will have a longer shelf-life, but obsolete in a year? I don’t think so. Since I’ll be using it as a home theater PC, it won’t be facing constantly more demanding applications as in a gaming PC. It won’t become obsolete until HD-DVD saturates the market…at least 3 years. My 2 year old, 1Ghz Ti Powerbook is still kicking butt and will continue to for at least another year…
For what its used for, I’d see this thing going for five years.
Meanwhile, the KH brand uni has changed the splined hub set entirely in a year, in effect making the 2004 KH unis obsolete when it comes to buying new cranks…in just 1 year.
look at apple’s stock price… (aapl) it went up like 10% on the day this stuff was announced. if i’d have thought about it, i would be a richer person right now.
