KH Uni Price Increase

UDC has raised the price on the KH 20 & the KH 24. Still no info being posted on the KH 29

Not content with riding the earth’s most isolated locations, Kris finally achieved his dream of riding on a planet some 38 light years from here. And rest assured, he did not ride the usual trails, but along remote promontories high above pools of noxious gases and stalagmitic formations of such sharpness as to give Coney Island freakshow artists pause.

In any event, he did bring back an as yet unexamined metallic substance well suited to unicycle construction. It is light yet strong and amazingly senses and yields to pressure exerted from the testicles while still maintaining balance. The price increases are undoubtedly worth it.

:sunglasses:

It makes sense, if they can’t keep them in stock then why not sell them for more. As long as they can keep getting rid of their stock I don’t see why they wouldn’t sell them for as much as they can.

You always have to remember that they are a business, they are trying to make money, so I don’t blame them for selling them for more. If I were them and I realized I could be making more on a product that I’m selling, I would say why not!

So, Kris Holm is working his ass off trying to design the strongest lightest unis for the cheapest price possible and unicycle.com just goes and raises that price because it can sell his unis for more. That’s what I call good business: earning money from somebody else’s hard work.

You could always go to Darren.

Thanx Raphael.
I thought I might find someone making some sense somewhere in this thread.
I didn’t expect it to be in the first post.

I doubt this is the case. UDC is usually very reasonable.

I’d imagine the increase in price is directly related to an increase in how much it costs to manufacture the unicycles (this could be better materials, higher wages for workers (unlikely), shipping costs increased from overseas due to oil, who knows…)

If you’re going to get a KH, you’ll pay the extra money anyway. Stop complaining and deal with the fact that you’re getting a superior product.

I’m just glad I got mine last year when they were on special offer for a measly £135 english pounds. It is indeed the bargain of a lifetime and well worth it. :sunglasses:

Except where shipping is concerned…
$8.57 to ship an ultra light Fusion cover to me.

And almost 12 bucks to ship me a light 5 dollar seatpost clamp.

You know they are charging more than it really costs because if you buy pedal protectors then shipping is only 89 cents anywhere in the country (well from pedalx.com at least, I dont know about udc.)

udc doesn’t overcharge on pedal protectors. its the same price.

That is what I thought, but then why would they charge $12 to ship me a seat clamp that is as small or smaller?

I would assume that the people at unicycle.com like to get paychecks regularly for the work they do…

I would also guess that, like most companies, they lose money on small orders. To process your $5 order through the computer, find the part, put it in the box, and ship it to you costs way more than any profit they made on the part. But they kinda have to do it to keep you, the customer, happy. That way, when you want that $500 item, you come back.

I have no idea what kind of system they use to charge shipping. Some people go by weight. Some by percentage of sales price. Some by just assigning values to products. Its really hard to build a shipping system that works well for everything… Probably, it is set up to make sure that for small orders, they don’t lose money on both the part and the shipping…

With KHU getting products listed in standard bike shop catalogs you’ll be able to find KHU products from many other sellers. You’ll be able to order from your local bike shop or online shops and compare price. A E Bike has KHU products in their catalog.

UDC also acts as a distributor. They’re in a position where they can’t really undercut the MSRP cause then the shops that wholesale from them would not be happy.

I’d give the shirt off my back for one of his unis!
