kh guni questions

i heard about this kris holm geared uni a while ago and that muni wheel size thread got me thinking would this uni be the ultamate muni? Because when it comes out and i get enough money for it i want to buy it, so would this uni be worth the money? and does anyone have some info on when they will be avalible to the public and if the geared hub is realy safe for muni

thanks

you really won’t know till people go out and start testing and breaking them.

There is a hub just like the uni geared hub that is made for “single speed” mountain bikes…its a $1500 wheel hub for the bike…i suppose you could find a bike forum and ask questions about it and see if it takes the abuse… i know nothing about the hub…its sold on jensonusa.com though…

heres a link to it…

john

wow, but thats a 14 speed hub! crazy as!

That is a link to a Rohloff hub, which is nothing to do with the KH/Schlumpf hub. http://www.schlumpf.ch/ is the site of the manufacturer, and there will be a review of it in the Autumn issue of Uni - The Unicycle Magazine.

florian is a family friend and my dad asked him and he said in would cost around $4000

I doubt that is accurate. KH mentioned it being around $1600 for the unicycle, if I remember correctly. For the non-splined schlumpf hub that you can get right now, it cost me $1350 (shipping inclusive) for the entire unicycle. With the KH geared unicycle, the difference will be the splined hub, and a better wheel build (needed for muni, vs mine is for distance). The costs to make those differences will not make it be a $4000 unicycle. No way. A $250 difference does seem realistic.

besides… you could just buy a cheap car for that much money. id say go for a car and than save for a unicycle not so expensive…

from talking to KH at MOAB, he told me it would probably be about $1300 for the hub and cranks, and about $1650 or something like that for the uni.

so do you think its a wast of money

if i had a lazy $1650 american sitting around, no
