KH 29 abuse

How much abuse can these take ? Is a 5 foot drop too much for them? I am running a 47 mm rim on it as well if that matters

I have no first hand experience with it but a KH29 with the 47mm rim is a pretty burly setup. It should be up for the challenge.

I’ve rolled off of a 3’ drop onto dirt several times with mine with the older XC rim. I rode 25+ miles of rocky (what I would call rough XC) trails at this year’s Cal MUni Weekend on it as well. No problems with the KH29 as long as the wheel is well built. Let us know how the 5’ drops go.

will do, ill be sure to post some pictures too. ordering my custom KH 29 tomorrow form bedford for only 945 $! =(

I think a lot will depend on how well your wheel is built and your weight/technique. I have no doubt a well built KH 29er rim will survive drops of that height if your technique is ok.

I have done alot of 5ft+ drops and some over 6ft on mine (with the 38mm rim) and it has been fine. It does depend alot on technique though and how you land. I recently buckled my rim too badly to true because I landed too sideways after trying to shiftey these drops. The bigger wheel is less tolerant to sideways forces compared to smaller wheels so you have to be careful there, other than that it should be able to take as larger drops as any.

Theres a few resonable drops in here. This was from over a year ago and since then things have only got bigger. It did last well to only die just two weeks ago. Cant complain about that.
