KH 2005 vs KH 2007

I would like to know how people compare the new KH to the Old, stronger, lighter, better, worse crank/hub. I just got the KH 07 for Christmas, and I love it, it is way better than my smashed torker LX.

Tkanks for everything:)

07s great but ive never ridden an 05 so probs not the best person to ask

well the 05 vs 07

the KH07 has got a wider and lighter rim (some people say its weaker though)
its got a better seat its thinnger and just nicer,
its got the moment cranks/hub which is great and comes in 137mm which is good.
its got a lighter and better frame with anti slip crown
it comes with a reinforced seatpost, but it still breaks quite easily

I think thats about it…

Basically its awesome have fun riding!

What he said, he beat me to it.
But I don’t like the rim, so I ride the KH05/06 rim.
The rest is KH07.

Has anybody ever destroyed the new KH rim or has any other fact why it is weaker?

The reason people think it is weaker is because of the drilled out holes. These holes have been known in the bike trial world to be weaker.

The rims tend to break at this part but I haven’t heard of the '07 rim breaking like that.

The rim breaking will have to do with how you land. If you are an advanced rider (or build up slowly) you shouldn’t need to worry about the rim bending or breaking. Concentrate more on the hub and cranks. They deal with your weight and movement all the time, if your rims is landed on correctly, no worries. (Unless the drop is so big that it ovals itself, let’s get real though, big drops aren’t cool anymore). The frame is very nice for coasting and other freestyle tricks for those of us that like alittle freestyle in our street, trials riding. The cranks (moment) are really nice and easy to see come around with flips and what not, and like that other guy said 137mm is very comfortable size. Between the 05/07 model though, both are amazing. I mean when it comes down to it, weight isn’t really a factor when it’s that fractional. The 07 looks way slicker, which to me kinda matters, since I know they will both preform amazingly. And yeah the only bad thing is the seat post. But the kinda goes along with how you land on it, of course i’ve heard some stories about it breaking from unispins and pull ups for jumping. Then I think it was just damaged prior. Both are amazing rides nonetheless. If you’re interested -

p.s. That was a little bit for humor, and maybe someone doesn’t know those. lol

yes, i’m also confused as to why this notion of the rim being so weak is persistant. The rim is made of a stronger aluminium than what i traditionally used. I’ve been on this rim for about 7 months, and it’s held round better than the old rim did for me. Also, the extra width, and light-weight of the rim are great. When i try out unis with dx-32s, they seem very unstable, and always folding now.
(please note, however, that I don’t usually do drops over 7 feet, and the most stress i put on the uni is from gaps)

Untill people start blowing up these rims, i think their reputation for being weak is totally wrong.
Anyways, i’ll go out today, and hit up some fairly large drops, just to further test these rims.
