Kenda Klaw 29"x2.1" (700x52c) tires

Hey,

Has anyone tried this 29" tire? Opinions?

Kris

I’ve tried the front 29er Klaw under limited conditions (pavement, grass, grassy hills, gravel, some dirt and roots) and find it really squirmy and hard to control.

Any particular reason why, compared to other 29" tires?

Do you think the rear tire would be better? They are certainly much different tread patterns.

What’s the volume on this tire compared to, say, the WTB Motoraptor.

Kris

Hey Kris. I think the front has lighter sidewalls, and the pattern is made to be really responsive, and I was riding it at, I’d say 45 psi. After I bumped it up to the max of 60-65, it was a little easier to handle laterally but made the roots and stuff harder. I thought it was just me until I switched to a Motoraptor which was much more stable.

I don’t know if the rear would be better. It’s probably stiffer and a little beefier.

The volume on the Klaw is a little less than the Nano.

I really don’t have enough 29er time to be a good judge. The real way to do this is to do a study using several volunteer riders on various surfaces with about three different tire pressures. I’m working on setting one up. I have collected several different niner tires and just have a few things left to do.
