I like Gilbys idea, you have the power, make it so!

Personaly I would be much more protective of RSU than JC as JC is whell “Just Conversation”.

Any time you limit who can post in something you might get higher quality posts but you also severily limit what this site is good for.

Personaly what I like the best about this site is that anyone can come here for help and there are knowlegable people willing to give advice. Probably one of my favorite things to do on this site is help people who are new to the sport giving them waht advice I can.

The only thing you’re proving is that you’d rather others do the work of policing. This is a SELF-policed forum… that means YOU and me! C’mon, Tom, chip in! All it takes is one PM here and there…

Yet on several occasions I’ve seen certain users making casual posts; I do a search on all their posts and the vast majority (or even all) of their posts are in Just Conversation. In other words, just using this forum as a “room” for miscellaneous chatter.

I think the number of such users is quite small… and there’s always the possibility that some of these users find all they need to know with the search function, so there’s nothing for them to ask… hence they resign themselves to chatter… now that’s not so bad, is it?

Require a “waiting period” before one can start new threads… it might encourage a new user to search the forum, read through existing threads, pick up on forum etiquette, etc.

A 20 min wait would be a good idea and would bring spam down

See…you prove my charge of ineptitude. Had I been a more skilled communicator and taken more care with my post, the tongue-in-cheek intent would have been obvious, but I also would have remembered to add a winkie or two to reinforce the point.

Just as a thought on that 200 post idea… I’ve been here more than six years (longer than most) and I have less than 500 posts (0.20 posts per day).
