Out on the KH29 tonight - with the cranks set to long, and with the KH bars set just right, I was riding well.
I was 3 miles into my ride when I came to a long straight unlit lane with high hedges on each side. No traffic - there’s a ford at the end that only farm vehicles and my 36" uni ever go through.
So I switched off both the front lights. By now I was warmed up and spinning briskly, riding by feel and letting my night vision gradually build up. There was no sound but the buzz of the tyre tread on the road and the whistle of the wind in my ears. Almost a mile of this, riding flat out in the dark.
What a great antidote to a bloomin’ awful day at work.
