Okay, with all the new trials riders out there I am wondering. What is the
personal best for your jump/hop heights? I mean where you can clear a bar
or land on an object. I think Kris Holm’s best is 81cm? But how about Dan
Heaton and you guys with your Monty trials unis. Also what setup was used?
To start this thread let me give my known best: 37cm Kenda Kolassal 24x2.6
Now is everyones chance to brag!
Thanks, Jeff

Im quite good at getting height and i also have a united trials uni with the monty tire and i think my best was just about 63 cm. If im correct that should be just over 2 ft i could probably get higher but that was good for me. I too am curious how high Dan Heaton can get. I bet alot higher than us. heh heh heh Good luck with your riding Jeff
I have also reached a little over 2 feet, without hopping seat in-front. I
can’t wait to get my new uni and improve this. I was using one of those
cheap taiwanese 20" unicycles. )—(x) Dylan Wallinger Keep Riding http://www.extremeunicycling-bcmat.cityslide.com
I know that Dan and Kris have both gone over 80cm, and I am pretty sure
Kris’s unofficial record is at least 87cm. I watched them at NUC2001 and
was quite awed. I managed to clear 45cm and have cleared about 60-65cm
heights (onto an object like a park bench, which is easier for me than a
true high jump over a wire). I still can’t get my mind around the jumping
style where you lift the uni wheel up as you ascend so that you can clear
a high object while staying on the seat (as Dan does in UniVerse on
several occasions). I saw a # of ppl do this at NUC and, while I
understand it conceptually, it just eludes me thus far. But when the snow
hits New York and I can use a pile of it as a landing pad, I’ll give it a
go – snow is great for that!

I think I did 40 - 50cm at NUC last summer. This was on my 26" MUni with
Kenda Colossal 26 x 2.6" tire. A better uni for this would be a fat little
Monty tire with enough air pressure to give you good spring, and a real
short seat post.
I jumped (seat out in front) over a garden fence. The jump was 21" high. Mind you, I’ve been riding since December of 2000, so not entirely a year yet.
The set up I used is a 24" Delux Miyata, with mountain tire, and metal BMX pedals. From my understanding, jumping on a cycle like this, is very wobbly, since the cranks are not 170mm.
I hope to go higher when I get a KH mountain/trials uni, summer 2002 (when I have a job and can afford it).
I think my personal best is 87cm on a 24x3" MUni but I haven’t tried on a
Monty trials setup yet.

Many times I have imagined myself on the basketball court on a 20" unicycle with a blood red wheel soaring into the air and doing a 360 degree tomahawk jam. However, my personal best stands at 310mm. It sounds bigger that way.
Well, an update to my past record. I spent a little bit more time at it
tonight and managed to jump up onto my obstacle at 50 cm. I think I
could do better with a little bit more time. Knowing that Kris’ best is
87cm makes me think that I should at least be able to add another 10cm
with practice.
Can anyone give me the URL of Kris Holm jumping onto a picnic table? I
think it was on the guy with RockShox munis.

The problem with using snow for that in NY is that you get your
clothes muddy!

jump height should be approximately 30 -50% greater than your vertical
leap. So, if your vert is 20 inches, you should be able - by sucking the
wheel up underneath you - to reach 26 -30 inches.
But your native vert is always going to your native limit.
