On a personal note
[sweet blog}
I have been back in the gym now for the last couple of weeks, practicing the old tricks. After not really juggling for the last 11 years, it is all coming back pretty quickly. Except the 5 club…that’s coming back - but very slowly…
I have also changed from my beloved Klassic American clubs to a Renegade club now. (Blasphemy, if you knew me.) But much easier on the hands than the Americans, they beat my hands up. I’ve suffered some permanent damage after 20 years of doubles and triples, I’m afraid.
I forgot how fun juggling can be…
Thank goodness for softer handles!

I looooove renegades, but I juggle px3s n.n’ they’re lighter and a tad more durable. Still, I think my next set will be renegades.
I couldn’t picture me ever stopping juggling. I just made a breakthrough with 7 ball the other day : ) FINALLY!!! it’s been over a year since I qualified it, and I just had one of those “ahHAA!!!” weeks, where I went from 12 throws consistantly to 40+ throws. My 6 club however is still going nowhere fast xP

I got burnt out.
I was juggling for a living doing 13 shows a week.
I practiced every day before shows but mostly to keep the current tricks fresh. Mostly just with the clubs.
Once I quit doing shows full time, I pretty much didn’t juggle much. A couple of times a year I pulled out the clubs or did a little show for some event.
And it hurt, my hands have taken a beating and thought they needed a rest.
But now I have a new sweet gig to get ready for, and want to get back to doing some busking soon, so I bought some clubs and other toys. It’s like being new again. I have fresh ideas and a new passion. I am throwing away my old act and creating a whole new one.
Congrats on 6 and 7! I love that feeling.
I finally had some good moments where I could relax into the 5 pattern and it felt like seeing an old friend.
Video from my bit at the Public Show at the 1989 IJA conv:
I must admit, I’m rather envious of performers. It takes a lot of creativity that I feel like I lack sometimes. I’m working on an act for february’s groundhog festival, but haven’t thought of anything brilliant quite yet. O:-)
It’s nice to see some good clean fun out there though, it’s just as much fun to watch this as it is to see someone running 5 club backcrosses in my opinion. : ) Glad to hear you’re back in it.
This whole unicycling thing isn’t a bad sport either xP though, so far, my interest has been exclusive to each. I caaan juggle on a unicycle, but that’s not where I have the most fun.
Wow, you guys really “cleaned up” with that act, yuck yuck…
I was at that convention! But I don’t think I saw the performance. Could that have been the youth showcase or something? Looks like a different stage from what was used for the big public show…
My first set of “real” clubs were Dube Classic Americans. Even now when I hear that name I think of hand pain. You used them for so long!
But mine didn’t seem to have that “upgrade” yours did…
Yeah, that was the Public Show all right. Held at the Paramount Theater in downtown Denver off the 16th st Mall. This was from the official IJA video of the event, I had never seen it untill recently. I am the guy with the easy job of sitting there.
Jon; I remember watching the unicyclists practice a bunch at Denver. It was the first time I had seen Sem perform, too.
Juggleaddict; good luck with the show. It is hard to come up with clever/original/funny stuff. Feel free to PM me for tips.
That explains it. The 1989 IJA Festival was in Baltimore. I forgot to ask you when you moved away from Baltimore! Not sure which year was Denver as I’ve only been to three of those (83, 89, 95).
Glad I didn’t; I thought you were the guy dressed like Nathan Hoover!
