A man just had a son and named him [man’s name, I didn’t catch it] 2.0
Does that make the kid already a nerd?

no, it’ll make him a Geek
Geek - [basically] someone who is into computers and technology and is literate in those fields.
Nerd - A person who is into computers and technology but is hideous and is felt to be socially inept.
I personally think that geek and nerd are words that can be used interchangeably (i.e., they are synonyms.)
DICTIONARY TIME!!
NERD: a creature in the children’s book If I Ran the Zoo.
GEEK: a carnival performer often billed as a wild man whose act usually includes biting the head off a live chicken or snake
There you have it, folks!
Re: Jr. or II is old hat
Doesn’t 2.0 mean second version of the same thing?
Is his son also his clone?
Just wondering.
2.0 would be the next version
Let’s take Windows98 and call it Windows Version1.0
When Windows 2000 came out, that would be Windows Version 2.0.
However, Windows98 second edition came out before 2000, still W98, but with some upgrades. This would be called Version 1.1 (1. anything, really)
So as geeky as he is, like most geeks he is correct
Here’s the story.

Thanks JJug, although after reading it, it even sounds MORE stupid!
“thanks for the cool name, dad, these black eyes really go with my shirt”
LOL!
We had neighbors from India with the last name Pimple (pronounced pimp-lay). They had two teenage girls. I can’t imagine going through high school with that name.

I’m a little nervous about this system, as your child will have several ‘upgrades’ on his path through life. For example:
At age: 2 weeks -
First checkup. Baby may recieve a Hepatitis B vaccination, resulting in <name> 2.01
At age: 2 months -
Second checkup. Baby will recieve several vaccinations, including DTaP, hib, polio, and Pneumococcal conjugate.
Name becomes <name> 2.02
At age: 6 months -
Third checkup. More vaccinations. <name> 2.03
…
…
…
At age: 18 years -
Due to numerous name changes, child (now a young adult) has a minor identity crisis. After several tattoos and/or piercings, child’s name becomes <name> 2.37
even so, I think <name> 2.0 is a wonderful idea.

Wait - doesn’t this mean Ozzy Osbourne is a geek? Can the word really have changed that much?!
Tim
Geek (and nerd) according to the Word Detective.

At least his father thought highley enough of his son to name him after a whole new version, after all he could have justmade him a version revision and called him 1.1
Haha, Ozzy is a geek!
