Ireland unicycleists

Hi everyone, I’m moving to Ireland at the end of the month, specifically to the west coast near Westport and I was trying to see if there’s any others that unicycle in the country / area. I’m 18 and have been unicycling for the past 4 and a half years on/off. I prefer going on longer rides down cycle paths but happy to try out a new style.

@Cedar_Dobson1 lived in Ireland for a time though I wonder if she has gone back to the US. In any case if she is still reading here, she might be able to suggest someone.

Hi, welcome!

I’m based in Dublin, originally from California. I’m not sure how many unicyclists are in Westport.

I arrange MUni meetups when Medard is in Ireland (Maksym’s brother from Poland). There’s aren’t many of us here sadly haha.

I wish you the best for your unicycling journey in Ireland and I’m in Dublin if you’d like to meet up, cheers!

If you can find him but Ireland is a small country and someone somewhere will know him. Or his aunt. Or his cousin.

I was there in 2019 with my unicycle in Ireland.
No lockal unicycles. No bike paths. Almost no cyclists. Roads are not suitabe for cyclists if they are not suicidal. I saw there ony one bike way - Grand Canal, about 20km. You may get all 20km of special bike road, from Adamstown to Dublin and to meet not more then 10 cyclists. Lockal peaple has strong opinion, a bicycle left by shop or trade center will be stollen immediately. The crime is not forbiden there, for youth, under 18th. Lockal population is not friendly and will not speak a word to you (if you are foreign).
Beside it, I did met there once unicycle girl, but she was student from Germany, also there was my fellow with bicycle, but he was current worker from Shweden. Ireland is most not friendly country for cyclists, of all country, were I was.

Hi that’s cool, I’ll have to try and organise getting another unicycle once I move over there, funny enough I’ll be flying into Dublin on Tuesday. It’s not to far from where I’ll be working as it’s only a train away

Sorry, have to disagree. I live here and have bicycled the roads for years. And I’m still alive. We’re not at the level of some European countries but we’re getting there. The people make up for any shortcomings of infrastructure.
