I don’t know if I didn’t see an introduction section, or if there just wasn’t one. Either way…
I’m Chris.
From CT.
I can’t go more than 25’ on a unicycle.
But should be borrowing one tomorrow to practice.
I just like that smiley.
Hi Chris!
Welcome to the unicycling world.
Hey,
Thanks,
Is there no introduction section on this forum?
Is this mostly USA?
There is no introduction section.
It’s everyone all over the world, but because the US is so big population-wise, there are a lot of Americans on here.
ps. What’s CT stand for? Conneticut?
Yes Sir.
Connecticut it is.
And yourself?
It think you mean B.C.
British Columbia! It’s big. There are Olympics here is 8 months too. I might be carrying the Olympic Torch. That would be cool.
Carry the torch on a uni! That would be great! Welcome riot. There is a beginners thread here.
That’s what I’m thinking if I get to carry it! It would be so cool, and I’d probably be the only unicyclist to carry it in the history of the Olympics!
That would be awesome to see 1 day.
Welcome to the forums Chris, my name is Harry a.k.a Hazmat.
Hey Chris.
many unicyclists have said they will happily unlearn the ability to ride just to be able to experience the thrill of going from 30feet to 100feet again.
Enjoy it when it happens.
In the meantime, that’s one more of us and one less of them.
yup. The moment of birth. There should be a clever term to call someone who hasn’t made that leap yet. They’re not quite ‘unicyclists’ but not nonriders either. They have tasted the promised land, just haven’t found the key.
Keep at it, Chris. When it happens, and it will happen, let us know so we can enjoy the thrill once again through you.
I remember it as suddenly realising that I could create stability from this most unstable of platforms. I could ride from a stable situation, but would UPD when it became unstable.
I suddenly learnt that I could recreate the stabillity from the (growing) instabillity.
Or something like that.
it is probably the closest to flying we’ll ever experience in our lives.
That’s where I am, and I am loving it.
Chris, welcome. I’m also pretty new here. Until recently joining, I had no idea how diverse, opinionated, and interesting unicyclist were (well, most of them). But thinking back now, I should have figured.
Enjoy the ride.
So I have a [gentlemens] bet with a friend of mine that I can make it 50’ consistently in one week. My week is up friday, I aquired a 24" uni. and am having way more difficulty than I was on the 20" trial one I originally posted about. The inside of my thighs are constantly on fire and red and I landed all my weight on a single testicle attempting to mount the unicycle without a car to hold on to. Aside from that, i’m frustrated, and already popped the tube once. Wish me luck…
Please describe both of these unis in detail especially the seat. I think most of us go through a period of toughening up the skinn on inner thighs as even bicyclists do, but then there are horror stories that one shouldn’t have to endure.
Hey,
I am not sure as to what the uni’s are in detail since they’re not mine and i’m new to all of this. I know the original one was a 20" Trial unicycle. I only used for one night, then I borrowed his beginner cycle, the one that I will be referring to until further notice…
It is a 24" Schwinn cycle. As for the seat, it has a poorly mounted Chris Holms Air Seat, with next to no air in it.
And I need to tight the post because the seat turns when I move and throws me off balance.
It’s all good, I still have until Friday to make 50’.
Welcome people from Yukon too
Definitely tighten that post. You’ll see a world of difference, not just physically but mentally as you won’t have to be concerned with it and can concentrate on those 50’.
Air might help too. Wishing you luck.
Post Tightened.
Tire Fixed.
Still can’t ride.
Almost Friday.
Frustrated.
Damn.
inner thigh, large bruise from seat.
Keep at it, and don’t give up.
I’m rooting for you.
