Introduction of LittleX

Hi, I am a 10 year old unicyclist just looking for some other crazies like me.

A little background:
I was given a 16" Torker in September of 2012.
Within a week I was able to ride it around the yard.

Within a month I was able to ride significantly and had started learning some tricks like standing still, trying skinnies, jumping, etc.

My family all ride mountain bikes so I really wanted a Muni, after a little research my dad bought me a 24" Sun Muni (Aluminum frame, tripple wall rim, etc). We knew at the time it would be too big for me, so we cut the frame and seat post down, and got it the right height so that I could ride it without shortening the cranks.

I can now ride for several miles at a time, have ridden several trails off road (and able to keep up with my family on Mt. bikes) and am able to do 16" plus drops, 10" long 3" skinnies, working on jumping, going backwards, etc. I even did a kids triathlon on it recently.

A couple of months ago I met a unicyclist who let me try his Giraffe Unicycle (5’), So my dad and I built a Giraffe Unicycle out of an old 24" Mt bike we didn’t have another use for, This one is a little over 4’, it works and didn’t cost a penny.

Anyway, I just wanted to introduce myself, learn from a few others who are into these unusual sports, and glean as much as I can from others like me.

Hey, cool, I’ve really thought hard about building my own giraffe. Good job learning to ride and welcome!

Very well written for a 10 year old.

Thank You. It was relatively easy to build the Giraffe, the hardest part is getting the wheel location (Chain tention) adjusted and getting it to stay there reliably.

Thank You. My dad won’t let me post on my own yet so I had a little help.

Sounds good, welcome.

Welcome to the forum, LittleX. I am dad to several Uni riders. Just bought a new CLUB uni earlier today. I told my gang that if they learned to ride, I’d buy them uni’s. Well, it’s on now! My 14 yo, has a new LX on the way, due here Thu or Fri. Do you snow ski? I love snow skiing. I watched KIDS 5 yrs old, out skiing me, back when I was learning. I suspect that if you learn to ride uni’s early, and keep it up, that you will have fun for life, with these!

Glad to see you posting, and enjoying riding.

Nate, (dad of a gang of uni riders)
