Introducing.....

Hey all!

I thought it was about time i introduced myself here. I’m a brand new unicycler from down in little old Tasmania, Australia. Well when i say brand new, i’ve been unicycling for 2 months now (wow time flies when your having fun) and loving every minute of it.

I picked up my first unicycle by random chance from my local tip shop (not sure what these are called in other countries, but basically at the rubbish dump there is a shop that resells any junk that might still be worth something). Then upon telling my girlfriend about the awesome thing i had found, she informed me she already had one :astonished: but it was broken and she couldn’t really ride it properly. So i fixed it for her (i just had to replace the bolt on the seat clamp) and we’ve been riding ever since. Although i must say i have become a lot more obsessed than her.

In my 2 month career i am already onto my third unicycle. The first one i quickly found that the thread for the pedal in one of the cranks was stripped out and decided that was going to take way to much work to fix. So i got a brand new cheapy for $150 which was great for learning on. But simply riding wasn’t enough for me and so i started hopping which quickly led to twisted axle (cranks in about a 3 and 8 o’clock position and looking like they were about to fall off at any minute) This was at almost at the 2 month stage, so having proven to myself that i was going to be sticking to unicycling i decided it was time to get a quality unicycle.
Which led me to the 19" Nimbus Trials ENVY unicycle. Man was i impressed when it arrived in the mail! What a beast! I’ve only had it for about a week and am absolutely loving it.

Ok that’s it for my introduction, i hope to get involved in this community a little, as i don’t think there’s much chance of finding some other unicyclists down here.

Actually one quick question that i’ve always wondered, did you guys find hopping extremely easy? The first time i tried it, it felt completely natural and the easiest thing i’ve ever done on a unicyle. i could just bounce around as long as i wanted straight away. But my girlfriend can’t really do it at all.

Oh and here’s a cool picture

Anyway that’s it from me

You have skills! Great photograph. Welcome to the forum.

You girlfriend is normal. Hopping requires a reasonable amount of timing and control which is not something that most beginner unicyclists are at a stage to pull off.

Welcome to the forum. Looking forward to seeing some more photo’s etc. of your progress.

Looking good there for just 2 months…good effort.
Don’t worry, you’ll have a fleet of unicycles soon enough :roll eyes:
I’ve found bunny hopping easy from day one but at the same time exhausting. I’m just working on jumping up onto a curb and jumping sideways and that’s proving to be far harder.

Keep up the good work and the nice pics…

haha yeah i know, other people just don’t get it. They’re like “WHAT!? your getting another unicycle again?”

Pfff, normal people, they just have no idea. Actually that leads me to a question, do unicyclers have a secret name for non unicyclers?

But seriously, when my unicycle became unridable and i had to wait a week for my new one to arrive, i was having some serious withdrawal symptoms. i couldn’t stand not being able to go out and practice. But in hindsight, i think a week off might of even helped solidify my skills.

Yeah i’ll probably stick with photos for now, videos can come later. It’s so much easier to look awesome in photos  Here’s my latest on my new nimbus (oh the jokes that were made when it arrived, “Did you get a new broomstick?” (i’m guessing most people know harry potter pretty well))

Oh and i’m glad you think my girlfriend’s normal, i was starting to think she was a bit of a wierdo… but then again… she does ride a unicycle

I call them civilians.

Please don’t refer to them as muggles. Unless you’re standing under a big neon sign that says “nerd”, in which case it’s okay.
