just stranded here via google, looking for unicycle reviews
i’m a swiss girl, now in japan for a year as an exchange student. i live in a quiet, nice neighbourhood… it’s great, but i really miss any sports or other hobbies. university didn’t start yet, and i don’t even know if any sportsclub will fit to my interests.
i have big tattoos, which are most surely a problem for the public swimming pool here, and it’s still too cold to swim in the sea. so what could i do? i decided to try the unicycle again.
it’s been so many years that i last tried it, but i remember the satisfaction when i rode my first 2 meters or something like that. i want that again, and i want a lasting hobby. there are many unicycle clubs back in switzerland, so if i could get back to my homecountry with that skill, guess it would be just great.
well anyways, nice to meet you all and hoping for good discussions!
The problem is that tattoos in Japan are associated with gangs, and many pools, bathhouses, spas, and hotsprings forbid tattoos to cut down on gang members. I t is just a tabboo in the culture.
aarons, yes i’m bloody new to this. didn’t order my uni yet, had many inputs now but still not quite sure.
monkeymark, polarbear is right. they possibly like tattooed girls, but as it is linked to the japanese mafia, it often gets a problem. foreigners are rather accepted, as people tend to think “well… how could this person ever be conntected to them” or “that person probably doesn’t know so whatever”, but people tend to think that i’m japanese (even in thailand i was asked often if i was japanese, but i am half thai…)
and polarbear, i’m in hiratsuka, that’s 30min from yokohama and at least on hour to tokyo. guess it’s not very much closer to nagasaki (my fingers are too frozen to look it up right now xD)
well well… not sure if a uni fits my tattoo plans, but let’s see
