My internet isnt working, when I try to connect is says I have limited or no connectivity. It worked five minutes ago, but wont now. We have an ethernet cable plugged into the main moden thingy, running to another modem, and the 2nd modem is the source of the problem somehow, because the main one works. I’ve reset it and stuff. anyideas what to do?
Its working right now isnt it?
Try right clicking on your connection icon in your tray, and click “repair”.
Maybe bitch slap your modem and say you a bitch nigga for real. It helps with mine.
Same thing happens to me.
I have my main modem from the cable company, then another router that splits it to two other comps in my house.
I have the cable going to the cable box (duh) and then ethernet to the router, then from that router, three other ethernet cables, one to me, one to my dad, and one to my sister.
When I get messed up, I unplug the ethernet that goes from the cable box to the router, and just use that to my comp, making it a single ethernet cable going form modom/cable box, to my ethernet card of my computer.
Usually that gets it recognized again, then I can plug everything back to normal and give internet back to the two other comps, or I have to restart, then it goes once it starts up.
Do you have a cheap, small belkin router? Probably form walmart?
Mine does the same shit dawg. I hate it alot I will just come up must be connected to view Internet pages when that happens I just hit back a lot then forward and it works out. I have a really nice router at my house guy at compie store said it was top of the line not that I would know though.
well what you should have is a switch and then a router/modem.
A modem/router will give you one or more port and is itself connected to the phone line and will have ethernet plugs allwoing you to plug it into. Convention says a modem usually has 1 port and routers have more, but routers do have more complex features.
Then if you have only one port you should use a switch (if ur using a router then thats gonna screw up your network/shouldnt really work unless you plug it in funny but its real stupid to do.) to split your one ethernet port into many.
Switches shoudl not cause any problems. I have used 5 of them - one belkin, one asus, 2 belkin and 1 3com and i dont think i’ve ever had to power one off because it crashed.
Routers/modems are a different issue and they crash all the time. Mayeb try going into your settings of your router, usualyl by typing 192.168.1.1 into your web browser. Really depends on the make and model of your router though.
hope that helps. read the manual and use the instructions there.
How to get computer help:
- Describe the problem. The more information you give, the more useful an answer people can give back. Each bit of hardware you were describing probalby has names and numbers on it. That would be a good start. Then there’s the operating system on your computer. Windows? What version? If not, the answers are mostly different.
