I just found this video and was blown away by the advancement of technology 
Its a ski/snowboard video and the cameras used to film it are 360 degree ones (similar to Google Street View) 
They might not be as effective as part of a unicycle video because unicycling isn’t as fast-paced as skateboarding, skiing and the like but I found this interesting and thought I’d share it with you 
Weird… What kind of camera even films like that??? I definitely see a lot of potential in it though.

My guess would be multiple cameras with the ability to have seamless connections/transotions through a really good software.

My guess would be a single camera, probably pointed downward at some sort of a dish-shaped mirror. Similar devices are used for 360-degree photographs, I think. Wonder why nobody’s been doing this sooner? Perhaps they have, but not in such a mobile setup. It’s very cool!
Not sure which setup this one uses, but there seems to be a few different ways to do this. But no matter what, you are right, just one camera but could be anywhere from 1-6 lenses.
I didn’t even think of a software to fix the distortion(that is why I thought it would be multiple cameras) caused by the ultra wide angle lenses.
Really cool stuff for optics we come up with these days.

I can’t access this video here at work, but I saw it last week.
I remember at one point positioning the view in such a way that I could see the camera man’s shadow. It made me think he had a frame in the shape of a cone or bell over him.
Then I assumed there was a camera mounted at well-known points on the frame, which would aid in stitching the images together with software/hardware.
Anyway, the cameraman’s shadow may reveal a clue.

I think the frame I mentioned is just for the camera man to hold onto to keep the camera steady, and so he can look around with his head without moving the camera.
In the second pic you can see the camera shape up on top and wires coming down, maybe to a backpack.
