Interesting air saddle anomaly

On both Saturday night and Sunday I was experiencing this bizarre feeling that I was leaning to the left. I could ride okay but I didn’t quite feel balanced and riding was somewhat erratic. I thought maybe I had bent a crank arm because on Saturday I had let this rather large 250-300 pound guy ride my Uni. He was just some guy who rode as a kid and wanted to have a go at it. He freemounted on the first try and went about 25 ft, but my tire was nearly flat from his weight :astonished: . I shoulted out, please don’t hop!

But I digress… I checked the crank arms, I checked the seat post and then I decided to check the saddle itself. What I found was this; the tube inside the cloth bone had shifted to one side at the rear, causing one side of the saddle to be a bit higher than the other. So I straightened it out and started riding again and it was whole lot more comfortable, but I still had this strange feeling that I was leaning. After two rides (about a mile each) the feeling of leaning got better. I guess my brain just had to re-adjust. I was doing all sorts of figure eight’s to reprogram my brain and that’s what I think worked.

Has anyone had an experience like this? It was really strange.

Re: Interesting air saddle anomaly

When I converted my Bedford saddle to an airseat, I first tried it without
an air-pillow and probably experienced what you just mentioned - the inner
tube did not stay in the center and it (the saddle) was probably less
comfortable than just the foam padding. In any case, I made myself an
air-pillow and everything was pretty good…(until I ordered myself a Miyata
seat, then it got even better)
