Instant Coker Taco

Okay, I was stupid. My nephew was on my Telford, and all I had was the ultimate
wheel and the Coker. He was practicing going up and down curbs, and I was going
to show him some smart move or other.

Bam–taco wheel–not so smart move. I hope my local bike store can fix it up.

Re: Instant Coker Taco

I hear you- tacos suck! So far this year I’ve had to replace 7 rims.

How big was the curb? I ride over a 4 inch curb with no problems, and can drop
off higher ones . I’m too chicken to ride up big curbs tho.

I watched my coker wheel flex the other night when i tryed out a side ways
mount. Didn’t like the look of it so that idea has been shelved till I see miark
next and can try it out on his coker.

I did the same on a friend’s Coker while doing side mounts. You should be able
to true it back. I went to the library and checked out a bicycle maintennance
video which taught wheel truing. Having done it twice now (trued a wheel) I
highly recommend learning the skill. It just takes patience. Brian Maxfield D

The curb that did me in was about 6 inches high. I’d gone up it a couple of
times–then I hit it dead on and tacoed. Beware!

Re: Instant Coker Taco

I meant to mention, that there is no such thing as a rim beyond repair… well
almost. A lot of work though. Totally slacken the rim and straighten the rim by
bruit force then rebuild it. I have done it on my 2 wheeler when I was miles
from home and had to, it does work but you are some times left with little kinks
where you have had to force it.
