The Spokane [Washington State] Diocese and other RC Diocese have tried to avoid paying for their widespread conspiracy to protect child sexual abusers and allow the sexual abuse to continue, by declaring bankruptcy.
The Spokane Diocese filed for bankruptcy protection in 2004, citing claims by abuse victims of about $81.3 million, against assets of $11 million.
Spokane RC Diocese just agreed to pay at least $48 million to people molested by priests.

Most child sex abusers have MANY victims in their wake.
Priests had an advantage over the run-of-the-mill molester, because of their position of trust, their consistent access to children with privacy (especially alter boys). The parents of alter boys were so enamored of the Church, in the rare occasion the victim told his parents, the parents often let the church authorities “handle” the situation, which meant the priest simply got moved to a new parish where he could sex offend more children.
The whole thing was a tragedy, went on for far too many years before ever comong to light. I hope the lawsuits have cast strong enough light on the actions that people won’t respond that way anymore.
Many victims never recover from the emotional distress, despite achieving professionally and socially, even with intensive (and costly) psychotherapy. The abuse has even caused some to lose their faith, and it’s difficult to place a value on such a loss.
Thats the biggest problem, people can still survive but they won’t live as full as life for the most part. This is why you can’t really put a price, no matter how much they pay, they won’t be paying enough.

if the priests got moved thats corrupt, basically I am saying that there is corruption in the catholic church, yes, but that is on the lowest level. If a priest gets caught doing stuff like that… he should be removed from priesthood, that is what is supposed to happen…
Well, atheists have NEVER had a holy person commit such crimes! And for that matter 100% of people who eat pickles die! Thus: Catholics are bad (but not the worst), atheists are good and pickles are deadly!
Got any proof of that other than wild speculation? Or did you just state a personal belief as fact because you’d like it to be true? I suspect the rate of child molestation in buddhism is rather low.

What you describe is exactly why this is a major scandal involving all levels of the RC Church.
Of course, child sexual abuse occurs among all religious and ethnic groups.
Both genders, too. The fact that women are often perpetrators has recently come to light, and the teachers union acknowledged that the problem with female teachers having sex with their students, has been known about for a long time by the profession, administrators etc, but only recently come to be looked at as “a problem.”

Back on topic, though, and for those of you outside the USA, bankruptcy is a loophole that allows people to incur enormous debt, far greater than they could EVER repay, and then declare bankruptcy, and all the debt is forgiven. And they cannot take your home/castle/McMansion.
While child sexual abuse occurs across all ethnicities, religions and non-religions, only the Catholic Church has used this loophole to avoid paying for their sins.
i have heard it and read it from several different sources, i read an article that said that Catholics have the least percentage of all Christian religions that are corrupt in that way. I just don’t know much about how else my religion is corrupt.
You have to remember that these religions use fear to coerce those that follow them to act in a certain way. This presents a situation that is ideal for corruption and control. That’s why I am not a fan of organized religion or the use of religion in any role of authority. If the Bible tells you that everyone is a sinner, then you have to remember that the people preaching to you are sinners as well. Therefore you have to use thought and reason to make your own determinations.
