In praise of coker turning

I love doing turns on coker!
I mean not only following the curvature of bike path but rather
doing right-angled turns and I love U-turns evem more so.
It feels extraordinarily… almost like flying. The higher speed I have,
the better it feels. :sunglasses:
Doing a U-turn or even a full-circle on 36-er has the similiar thrill-factor
as doing nice and fast carving turn on skis.
It’s both beautiful and fun to do.

What’s your opinion? Do you like turning on your 36-ers?

I agree! Sometimes I feel like I could touch the ground if I’m going fast enough. Eventually it might hurt.

Yeah, Banked turns and circles on a 36" wheel are great fun.

I don’t normally bank often, but if the pavement is level and smooth, then I’ll go for it. It feels so cool, swooping down and around.

This aspect is what makes a 36" a 36" to me. So graceful and it looks very impressive from the ground.

I’m still working on the confidence factor on the 36. I do like a smooth left turn. (seems to be my best direction).

Thanks for the idea

I don’t lean much when I turn. Maybe that’s part of why I’m not very good at it !

I can now make a tight circle on my coker (about 8 feet in diameter) it feels so good, I can lean so far over if I’m going fast enough I want to try a spin on my coker, or a pirouette on my coker!

lol
thats why i don’t have one… i would wreck it so fast.

Ive done that. Feels good, and I found it a lot easier to do on the Coker than on a freestyle uni.

When doing crowd-work on the Coker I was always amazed at how nimble the beast actually is.
I always felt that I could just point my knee in a direction and slap the wheel into the gap.
Something else I enjoyed about working in crowds with the Coker is the fact that if you ‘put your foot down’ you could ride yourself out of any kind of trouble.

Can anyone find the links to HarcoreCokerRider’s videos?
He did some insane turns.
