i'm starting out and had a couple questions

yeah um i’ve been unicycling for a couple months and my unicycle i bought used…what would anyone recommend for a new one fairly cheap? also what’s the difference between a 20" and a 24" (besides 4 inches) I’ve also been criticized for getting on the wrong way, I get on with the pedals vertical, how do i get on w/ them horizontal? any help would be appreciated and does anyone know any clubs in Prescott Arizona?

Re: i’m starting out and had a couple questions

that’s one more of us and one less of them
welcome to the fora

check out the
‘SEARCH’ button in the top right hand corner of the page
if u run a couple of searches on ‘freemount’ and ‘freemounting’, u’ll find a whole bunch of threads that’ll talk u thru the different freemounts
it sounds like u’re doing what’s called a ‘roll-back mount’ at the moment and u’re asking about doing a ‘static mount’
it’s all in there

The black Torker LX unicycles are good. The 20" one is $94 and the 24" one is $99 at Unicycle.com. You can find them for a little less on eBay. Your local bike shop probably has them or can order them. T they’ll probably cost a little bit more that Unicycle.com but after you consider shipping costs it may even out.

A 20" is good if you want to learn freestyle tricks/skills (the types of skills that are in the 10 skill levels). A 20" uni is more maneuverable. If you’re a tall adult you may find that the seatpost on most 20" unicycles will be to short so be prepared to buy an additional extra long seatpost.

A 24" is good for cruising around the block. The bigger wheel goes a little bit faster. You can still do freestyle skills on a 24".

If you get more serious about using the unicycle for transportation or cruising you will probably opt for an even larger wheel like a 26", 28", 29" or 36". But those unicycles are not practical for freestyle skills.
