im having a problem on my mac, any help would be awesome

hey buds,
im having trouble on my mac here. when i try to sign in on myspace it gives me this message:

Server Error in ‘/’ Application.

Runtime Error

Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine.

Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote machines, please create a <customErrors> tag within a “web.config” configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application. This <customErrors> tag should then have its “mode” attribute set to “Off”.

<!-- Web.Config Configuration File -->

<configuration>
<system.web>
<customErrors mode=“Off”/>
</system.web>
</configuration>

Notes: The current error page you are seeing can be replaced by a custom error page by modifying the “defaultRedirect” attribute of the application’s <customErrors> configuration tag to point to a custom error page URL.

<!-- Web.Config Configuration File -->

<configuration>
<system.web>
<customErrors mode=“RemoteOnly” defaultRedirect=“mycustompage.htm”/>
</system.web>
</configuration>

i just want to know how to make it to where i can sign in again. keep in mind i know NOTHING about computers, other than how to make videos on them and…i dont know create an amazing myspace. thats about it. tommorrows my birthday, 17, so consider helping me as a ‘‘birthday gift’’. cuz im not gonna get anything else for my birthday.

You could just keep going back to the login screen and trying to sign in again. Or see what happens when you hit refresh, or restart your interent browser.

This is probably crappy advice but it is all i could think of

No clue but Id refresh, quit, restart your computer, disconect the computer from the internet, or unplug the modem. I usually do that if my internets not working. Not all at once though or in that order just one of those. I usually dont get errors though just a “you are not connected to the internet”.

doesn’t sound like something’s wrong with the computer more like myspace’s server… try resfreshing the login page and if that doesn’t work try quiting your browser (safari I assume) and re-opening it, if that doesn’t work try another browser (like firefox or something, if you still have IE (which if it’s a new mac it won’t have) try that) if none of that works try uplugging the internet plugging it back in and restarting the computer, then try again, if none of that works use another computer… hope at least some of this was useful, I don’t know how else to help you out here… sorry… oh and happy birthday in a few hours…

Take a screen capture for proof.

Then make up a story about how you hacked the MySpace server and crashed it. Then post that story along with the screen capture to your MySpace page after the server is fixed.

Till then, enjoy your web time here instead of on MySpace.

That is a .NET web page issue, which you only get to see if they are having an issue with their custom error pages. Sounds like myspace is having some problems, most likely nothing you can do about it, but wait.

step one: buy a pc
the end.

Haha NO. Thats like buying a bicycle! :slight_smile:

It’s a problem with myspace, not your computer (obviously). Just wait it out.

Turn your computer off, then turn it on again.

That’s what our I.T. department always tell us to do when things go wrong.

Hey did you get it fixeded?

he has one. The new ones have intel chips in them, voila… a pc

you guys are a bunch of geniuses…lol. its alright.

naw…i jsut get to sign in on my dads computer here and there for now. its been like this for liek 5 days. but i dont like to get on his computer because i dont like him. no worries though. love ya forrest

Correction: It’s a problem with the Microsoft software on MySpace. Think about that, Gabe… :slight_smile:

Fortunately a new/recent Mac with an Intel chip in it is not a PC. It can act like one if you install Windows on it, but they don’t come that way…

…About to try installing XP on mine pretty soon… :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ve been expecting someone to jump in and suggest that Jonny_Peacock wipe the drive and install Ubuntu. That’s the usual smartass reply. And of course, MySpace wouldn’t have had the problem in the first place if they used Ubuntu servers and LAMP.

If you guys can’t keep up the Ubuntu love I’m not going to digg any more of your threads.

Ah, from the sounds of things, there is something with your account that hasn’t been considered by the people coding my space, and this is causing an error, which should take you to the custom error page, only there is an error with that page.

My suggestion would be to screen shot the error message you are getting, and email it to them, explaining that you get this when ever you try to log in, and how long it has been happening.
