I'm back on top!

OK. Impatience won out over practicality.

After doing much research on what kind of MUni I should start out with, and
finding that there is NOTHING available in the Los Angeles area, yesterday I
went down to my local bicycle shop and bought the only unicycle they had. I am
now the proud owner of a 24-inch CyclePro that I’m sure I’ll have outgrown in a
couple of months. Oh well, it was cheap, and I was too excited to order anything
online and wait for it to be delivered. (However, next time, I don’t think I’ll
have a choice unless LA bike shops start stocking stuff just for lil ole me.)

So, after wobbling the thing around the bike shop a couple of times, I was
thinking maybe I was rustier at it than I thought I was. However, once I got
home and hit the streets with it, I actually surprised myself at how much
easier it was than I had remembered! Initially, the wheel kept getting ahead of
me and I couldn’t understand why. Then I realized that this cycle weighs TONS
less than the one that I had learn to ride 24 years ago. Dang, is it nice to
not have to put such effort into it! I’d like to personally thank all those
folks who helped improve cycle technology over the past quarter of a century.
You know who you are.

So, I’m not quite ready to summit Everest on it yet, but I’m quite happy with my
progess so far! Whoooo!

Gonna go see how it handles in the rain today. Vicki

ah yes, the good ol’ cyclepro. friend to beginner unicyclist world round. i
know several people with them, and they have all been very pleased. but if you
plan to hit the trails, stick to some light ones. and get a better tire. ask
Tanya and Tammy Marsh. they took their cyclepros out on the crazy hills of
South Dakota.

i think hopping is fun, and i have hopped over rain puddles too, but why not
just plow right through 'em? get some speed going, and make a big splash. or,
hop into the middle and make splashes that way. but watch out for worms. they
dont like being squished.

oh yes!! We have miyata seats, modified - we took out the foam and put an
innertube in, AND added some gel stuff that we ripped out of a $5 walmart kids
bike gel seat cover. Works nicely.

I had them throw a better tire on it already, and it handled quite well in the
rain today. There wasn’t any hydroplaning, although I could be more skilled at
jumping puddles. (Yeah. Missed a couple…OK…a few.) Lucky for me there wasn’t

I guess I was just trying to be fancy. However, instead of qualifying for an
X-GAMES Mountain Dew commercial, I ended up either going unsuccessfully through
them, or falling off (Oops! I mean dismounting.)

As far as the worms go, well, nothing against them personally, but I feel
they’re pretty much on their own. If they don’t see me coming, well, maybe
that’s just a part of the whole natural selection process?

Have they done anything with the seat? I had one for about 10 years and it had
the old hourglass seat. I’m hoping for your sake they have changed it.
