Just wondering - If I was going to buy a unicycle and one store in the area had in stock a 24" Toker Unistar and another store had in stock a 24" Schwinn, which one should I go for?
fyi - I am an adult 5’11" 155 lbs and i’ve messed about with some unicycles and am looking to buy
Get the Schwinn. I am still riding a 1964 24" Schwinn that belonged to my uncle, the my aunt, then my cousin, and then me. This is a sturdy unicycle that will last forever and will never let you down. And I just personally don’t like Torkers, as they feel weak and flimsy.
Get the Schwinn if you want the best of 1960s technology. Though there have been upgrades over the years, the only good reason to buy a Schwinn unicycle these days is nostalgia or brand loyalty. If they came out with their Giraffe model again though, I’d recommend it in a heartbeat.
For the Torker, the model is important as mentioned above. Note that most unicycles are bought online. Check out what’s available at Unicycle.com and similar to see what your options are. The advantage of the local shops, of course, is immediacy.
Sorry I hadn’t gotten back to your email yet, but I found you here! Based on who you cc’d, you must have found my email address on a very old web page!
Okay so I found out the torker is a LX model. It sounds like both the Torker and the Schwinn have plastic bumpers - does that matter that much vs having rubber bumpers?
Are these two pretty comparable? I just have no idea and would like to get the best I can under $200
Torker LX model are really nice to pick up. I have ride that and would say first it was quite hard to control on that but when you have control on that you will love to ride it. It was more fun to ride on this unicycle.
