Ive rode unicycles for some time and im just wondering for the guys on here how do your boys not hurt you from riding?
I use common sense and not sit on them. You know, keeping them in front of you and not under you when sitting down so they just rest on the front of the seat.
Ye but the seats on unis are so curved that even when they are infront theres pressure being placed on them.
have you ever ridden a uni? It doesn’t sound like you know what you’re talking about. Any kind of pain that results is from typically because of inexperience. As you adjust, you ride just as you do a bike. In all reality, my seat is more comfortable than a bike seat.
Are you fully scooping them so they are as far out and in front as possible?
The curvature of the seat shouldnt be putting much pressure at all on them. Actually, now that I think about it, I dont have any pressure on them, besides their own gravity of being sitting where they sit.
The biggest problem for me is pressure on and near the perineum which after a long time starts to cut off bloodflow.
What seat do you have?
Mine practiced enough, the dont get in the way now. They are placing them selves by their own:p
Ya i use to ride the small ones about 6 years ago and i just bought a Giraffe yesterday to get back into the sport. Its just a generic uni seat.

you should get a cricket box lol jk.
when u used to ride earlier did u have this problem? did it just start when u started unicycling again?
maybe try a different saddle.
Ya just started happening recently. Im going to go buy another seat and adjust it till it feels better.
Using cycling shorts also makes it easier to make sure that Frankie and the Twins stays up top, in the position to where you’ve scooped them to.
Failing cycling shorts, go for tight fitting briefs.
Bozers are not good for unicycling.
i always wear bike shorts. i cant really even stand the saddle without bike shorts. and if i cant have bike shorts, then tighty whities. boxers + uni = fail.
just ride without the seat! haha
Posting unicycle threads only in RSU will prevent any future problems with frankie and the twins.
Posting unicycle threads in JC will cause a life time of pain.
For you.
For me. Jeans + Boxers + seat = Amazing for many many hours.
No One size Fits All
I had high hopes for bike shorts for use on one wheel. Wrong, in fact, its worse than briefs & snug-fitting outerwear. I tried a jock strap but should have known better. Tried anyway, now I know.
Frequent repositioning on the seat is all I know to do for relief.
Just bought a KH air gel or whatever it’s called. Adjustable pressure via air pump. A better mousetrap! But it ain’t perfect, just an improvement that can be adjusted to you preferred pressure.
A reply a few ago mentioned the giraffe seat as a problem. Me too. Has to do with a reluctance to readjust pressure on the seat at that height. Concentrating on the ride & avoiding mishaps is top priority mixed with anxiety about UPD.
Glad to see the conversation.
Once you ride for a good while, it stops hurting. You’re just as sensitive as ever, but just as you learn to control the tiny motions required to balance on the unicycle, you learn to control the tiny motions that keep your balls from getting squashed.
I’ve gotten hurt far worse in that area riding a bike than I ever will on the uni.
