i killed my Surley Cross-Check

two cyclists going in opposite directions came around a corner and connected. his crusier was fine but my Surley top tube and down tube buckled and the rear wheel is a taco. it was so bad that i had to carry it home. the front wheel was about an inch passed the down tube so it wouldnt turn and couldnt wheelie it since the rear wheel was smackin the chain stays.

its totaled, there are big shop tools that can staighten out a head tube but i think the fork is twisted so its a lost cause.

Oh! That sucks! :astonished:

Do you have any ideas for a replacement frame?

ouch thats a major bummer. Glad to hear that you guys are ok though (right?)

Man, that’s effed up.

Mojoe

So the bike took a pretty good hit, how did you fair? Really sucks about your bike.

i dontknow yet, the New Long Haul Trucker from Surley is good sounding and would have slacked angles. the Karate Monkey is a fun thought, to bad it has a unicrown.(less class)

then there is the $400 dollar Kona Smoke. i could put my better parts on it, my Drive train is undamaged.

im fine. my forarms are hurting from handlebar slamming flesh. i had my helmet on,good thing to since my head hit the other guys face! everything seems to be ok, minor aches and abrasions.

(the morning brings better pics)

2 words: Crash Replacement

holy crap dude, that’s huge!

my poor wheel

step one: take off front wheel

2: insert fork into vise

3: tighten vise

4: crank down on the rear end till head angle resembles the way it once was.

i have a 360 degree swiveling vise

And that’s not the only vise you have. A preference for cheap beer is your other vise.

you know it J_C

Look on the bright side, at least its not your uni
