So there I was, walking through someone’s backyard…the front of my sandal got caught on a rock or something, and it bends backwards, and my toe hits the ground, and it bends forwards and twists up, and I fall down. I massage my foot for a minute, before thinking, ‘meh, pain is overrated,’ and I continue on my way home. That was last Friday.
It continued to hurt a little itty bitty bit all weekend, but I didn’t think much of it. So today in P.E., we were running a mile for time. I ran it barefoot of course, I always run barefoot…but apparently my foot wasn’t very ready for barefoot running a mile. It felt okay while running, but then after I finished, it hurt like BLEEP!! so I rested it for a while, and tried to stand up, and pretty much couldn’t…it was like radiating pain through my entire lower leg, just from my toe, oh golly it hurt. so I went back to the school, iced it for a while, and it didn’t get any better. So I called my mommy to come and get me, and I went to the doctor and x-rayed it, and it was broken. NOOO!!
this means no running, no unicycling, pretty much no fun for the next six weeks while I have this thingie on my leg.
SUCKS.
awwww. Poor thing! school pe sounds rough too. sounds like my pe. what grade are you in? Anyway I Hope your foot heals correctly and stuff. Good luck with that!
You’ll be able to practice your one footed riding still, right!?
You must come up with a better story, though. Like you were in a duel, or you were attacked by a marauding gang of Idaho youth. oh yeah, you are a marauding Idaho youth… Well you get the idea.
Take care of it because it may be prone to reinjury a long while afterwards, especially if there is an accompanying sprain.
Later, Mr. Potter.
BTW my unicycling has been well received in my new town. I was hesitant to ride at first. The kids at the park love the coker: “nice uh… nice tire, lady” is what I heard the other day.
dAng man you too, I bruised and stress fractured 3 bones in my right foot like 11 days ago I think…Ive been takin calcium, MSM, and mulit vit. like crazy, and today it felt really good, i was jumpin on my g/fs scooter and stuff…Well I hope you heal quick bro…
me niether… except my big toe once… and that doesnt really count…
i tripped on one of those likkle eye-hooks they screw into the pool decks to lock down the furniture onto… i was running and it got bent backwards like all the way. noticed it looked funny, went to doc, he set it, put on a splint, i took calcium, and the next two weeks took it easy. sorta.
anyways. enough about me… get better. OR ELSE! just kidding. just don’t do anything stupid…
We were playing around with juggling at his house. Somehow one of us managed to land one of the beanbags on top of a rafter that ran close to his ceiling. Now, being young, intelligent, highly-sophisticated teenagers, we knew what we had to do. Climb up and get it of course!
My friend managed to climb up and dangle from the rafter and feel around for the beanbag. Whilst he was doing this, I, being the caring friend I am, decided to start chucking the remaining beanbags at him. Not knowing how to respond to my barrage of deadly beanbags, he slipped and landed on an (uncovered) vent where his foot somehow managed to land halfway on the brick and halfway onto air. I think it fractured 3 or 4 little bones in his foot…
A friend of mine just broke his foot (three toes) and he was walking and riding a lot sooner than… well, a lot sooner than he was supposed to. (Personally, I wish he would give it more time to heal. I think he is making it worse by trading in his crutches for a unicycle too soon.)
So, maybe it won’t take as long as they say. Support the healing process with good nutrition and optimism. Maybe you can be “cleared for take-off” sooner than six weeks. But since your feet are so important to you (running, unicycling), I’m sure you already know that optimal healing is better for you in the long run. Suffer through some down-time now, but maybe get re-checked in four weeks. Doctors don’t know everything. They told my friend six weeks also, so I think they tell everyone that. But junk-food couch-potatoes (not referring to my friend) and athletes with good nutrition do not heal at the same rate. One size does not fit all. Maybe your doctor can declare you “healed” after three or four weeks. So, best wishes for super-speedy healing!
