System Of A Down’s latest album ‘Hypnotize’ part of the Mezmerize/Hypnotize double album came out last monday in NZ. Not sure when it comes out in the rest of the world. I got it yesterday for my bday (which is actually today), anyone else got it? Want it? What do you think of it?
Im listening to it properly for the first time now, frist impressions its heavier then Mezmerize and some more interesitng lyrics “banana banana banana terecotta banana terectotta terectotta pie” 
But I think overall its pretty cool, But yeah I havnt given it a good listen yet, posibly not as good as some of their other albums, but like Mezmerize it’ll probably grow on me.

meh i havent gotten to the record store yet… but i wasnt mpressed with mezmerize very much… but ive heard the single from hypnotize… seems pretty good… i might have to go and get that soon there… ill wriet a little review once i get it… and your birthday isnt untilll tomorrow around these parts…

Listening to it for the second time now, its definatley growing on me. A good album I say, got the full version of ‘Soldier Side’ too.
yeah at first I liked Mezmerize heaps, then I started listening to Toxicity and thier other albumbs more and liked mezmerize less. I think hypnotize is more toxicityish, a bit harder etc So yeah its good but I still dont think as much as their old CD’s.

I didn’t like it anywhere near as much. Kinda thought it was a bit disappointing after mesmerize. But I’m not a great fan of SOAD, I like my music a bit heavier and more screaming and stuff.

Got it on Friday. Listened to it a few times since then and i’m listening to it right now. I think it has it’s own style and merits but I think I preferred Mezmerize so far. As in Mezmerize I think they let Daron sing a bit too much. His nasal, whiney voice is ok and fits in nicely in some songs as a contrast to Serj’s voice (who I much prefer to sing) but too much of it is a bad thing. I think Toxicity is definately their best album. I don’t have System Of A Down though so I can’t compare it. I do love how the two album cover fit together…I was so confused when I got Mezmerize about why it was all backwards. It will grow on me though as all my music does after I listen to it enough.

Woah do the covers fit together! Thats AWESOME! I thought they were just trying to be different with the backwards cover and I wondered what the random flappy bit on hypnotize was…they fit together! Awesome I gotta go try that.
I’ve heard that it’s the Armenian-American-Political-Metal albumn of the year, not that it had much competition Wil have to trick my bro in to buying it when it comes out in the UK, mezmerise was pretty damn good.
I got it from a friend (bootleg) about a month ago. It came out on the 22nd in the states.
I really like the album, but I am a big System of a Down fan, and have liked all of their albums well. I really like the way they are mixing the songs up by changing the tempo often. I also like that they are letting Daron sing more, his voice is very different from Serj’s and they both contrast well and flow well together.
I’m not sure if I like the album more than mesmerize, as it has a few real good songs, as opposed to Mesmerize which had almost all good songs. I love the full version of soldier side.

less darron siniging, he just uses his good backup harmonies like he should… its in the the basic style of mexmorize… except good and awesome… any soad fan shoul get this cd… its awesome

So did I initially, but as I’ve listened to hypnotize more I’ve liked it more. Maybe it’s just me, but it really grew on me

I agree with Chase. After having hypnotize for a while now. At first i didn’t like it so much, it grew on me and its awesome! But yeah toxicity would still be my favourite.
I love SOAD but I feel they peaked at Toxicity… 2nd being the self titled and 3rd being steal this album. Mesmerize/hypnotize seem to be their weakest for me. (but still good!)
