I dont think this thread will be taked to seriously since almost everyone on here is against hunting and guns…but oh well.
Deer Season is coming up! Nov. 15!(for Michigan anyway) Iam all excited, and will be taking the week of school off. Been baitin for awhile and have some large does coming in, but havn’t seen any Bucks this year. 2 bucks were hit this year also by cars. 1 was a 4 pointer, the other a spike:( Is anyone else taking time off for hunting?
I’ve been doing some Partridge hunting aswell. I shot 2 birds this year so far, but am going out tomarrow to get the confirmed 3 more birds I saw. I think I will try to make some kind of jerky out of them;) Has anyone done any bird hunting out there, or only me?
We have been deer hunting for a while now (bow season). I havn’t gottne anything yet but I’ve come close. We went out today and didn’t see anything, but it was a bad day according to Our GPS. I can’t wait till youth shotgun season! I’ll be able to take more shots that I can’t with a bow.
As my name implies, I also hunt rabbits and small game. We havn’t been out small game hunting yet this year, becasue of deer, but I want to go soon. Maybe I sould bring my .22 out when I go deer hunting, as I always seem to see a few squirills!
yeah, but you know the ole saying, you can never have to much meat in the freezer! Actually I made that up, but it’s true! Make some jerky, you can’t go wrong there.
i got my first ever deer this year and with my bow. im soo proud of it:) mn’s gun season is in affect at the monent and it SUCKS ive seen one deer and i only know one persn who got one(and it was a MASSIVE 12!) i also did my first pheasent hunt this year and got my first one after three shots(how is bird jerky?) i get to skip skool tomorrow to hunt, im excited. this summer im buying a long bow and flintlock muzzleloader, they will be my 2 primary arms. this year its my shotgun and compound bow.
What’s really ironic is that we have been hunting our uncles land all season, and my dad’s friend said last weekend that he was going hunitng and that if I wanted to go with him to just call him (my dad had to go to drill). So I called him and we ended up just going out to my uncles place. I sat in the two seater ladder stand we had set up out there and my dad’s friend went in the back aways and set up his climber near a scrape. At about 5:30 I hear him yelling. I get down, get on the quad, and go over and he is in the path waving a flashlight. He says fairly calmly “I just shot two doe; I feild dressed one and if you field dress the other one you can have her.” He naturally hyper, so I didn’t belive him, but he showed me his hands; they were bloody. He had actually shot them at about 4 or 4:30, and he started yelling then but I didn’t hear him. that’s why he was so calm. We actually ended up butchering them that night (my cousin knows how), and so now we have a deer in our freezer! they were both pretty small, maybe 90 pounds feild dressed. We just had some backstrap steaks tonight. they were awsome! Rolled in flower and seasoned with Mrs. Dash and salt and then fried. Mmm, mmm!
sweet! I have this muzzleloader…the Lyman Trade. This pic is the Lyman trade in flintlock. I went percussion enstead of flint just to be sure it’d fire when the situation calls for it. Flint is just plain kewl. I was thinking about getting one for the collection.
Okay, this isn’t about hunting, but there have been a couple of posts about making jerky, so here is my story. I have this friend, he worked at Zick Meat Farm, they make jerkey and assorted animal sticks. If you have ever had a deer or alligator or emu or any exotic animal stick, it probably came from there. Well anyways, he actually made the stuff. And one time at hockey he came with like ten packages of jerky, apparently he did this every time. I just remeber thinking it was cool that he had all this jerky for free. He even got to mix the stuff on his own and he made his own special kind, it was pretty cool.
Well, yeah, that’s my story
My dad thought about getting the TC Encore in a muzzleloader barrel becasue he wanted to start hunting, but he bought his friends bow instead because the seasons are longer.
I’ve always thought the old fashioned muzzleloaders were cool. the only bad thing is that you can’t mount a scope on it. But I guess it’s better than my shotgun; that just has the single bead on the end!
Muzzleloaders are fun to shoot! I have this Lyman Trade Muzzleloader. I went percussion enstead of flintlock just to be sure it’d fire if the situation calls for it. Flintlock guns are cool though. I should get one for the collection.
hunting is fun! I perfer blowguns to normal guns… they require in my oppinion more skill to aim… but I could be wrong I’ve only ever fired a .22 caliber rifle.
