Howdy

Livin’ the wheelie for 30 years.

Been off the wheel a few years but just ordered a KH36, I a more excited then when I was 4 and it was Christmas eve.

Anyone currently in Tulsa?

Greetings Glass, good to hear you’re back on the wheel.

One more of us, one less of them.

I just passed through a couple of days ago, so howdy.

Tulsa is pretty big, so there are definitely unicyclists somewhere in the area. If you’re lucky there’s a club or something. Look around on the internets. Try Facebook. Pay attention next time there’s a parade. Parades are unicycle bait.

If you can’t find anyone else who rides, you may have to train your own riding companions.

I did expect to go allot faster on a 36 but sure didnt realize just how hard it is to pedal. LOL

I still can’t mount without a wall but that’s just more practice.

Varying the wheel speed is much harder than I expected, my first ride after only 5 minutes A small bump took me down simply because my legs were too tired to pedal any harder to compensate for it.

There is alouse stuff to learn!

I had no Idea the sport had grown into so many styles (ty youtube)
I guess you could say i was into muni although that isnt what i called it.

I just called it “taking the parrot for a ride down the greenbelt trails & freaking out a whole bunch of mountain bikers”

You may want longer cranks to start.

A much catchier name.
I think muni’s time is up, long live ‘what he said’.

It has the double hole cranks & I have the pedals on the outer hole.

I got a (very) cheap 26" to build my legs back on.
I am also saving up for a trials uni, thinking maybe a nimbus (can’t afford another KH atm), any feedback on this thought?

Update:

My strength in my legs is returning and I am able ride that 36 now for over a 1/2 hour (5 min. was rough at first).

The cheapie 26" was a good idea to get back in shape and riding yesterday I noticed FAR more fluidity in my movements on the big wheel.

This felt so good I stretched out my arms and pretended I was an airplane as I slalomed the sidewalk, then laughed out loud at my silliness.
(I even made airplane noises lmao)

Feels good to be back on and now I know why there so many should be geezers here, as they are riding to stay young.

Hey, Glasshopper, we’re riding muni at Turkey mountain tomorrow. I’ll throw in the 36’er so we can hit the paved trail there if you wish.

Welcome to Tulsa! There’s lots of trail for that KH you’ve got.

Sorry that I missed it.
Next time perhaps (hopefully it will be warmer).

Gleetings, young Glasshopper. Wercome to unicycring. One should always lemember, he who lives in grass house should not plactice tlials unicycring indoors.

Never be afraid to be an airplane. You’re already on a unicycle, so no one’s going to notice!
