How to make it Wide Screen with WMM?

I was wondering how to make a video wide screen with Windows Movie Maker or if thats even possible?

I’m pretty sure it has to be filmed in widescreen, or maybe you could cut part off the top and bottom, but I’m not sure if that’s possible with a program as crappy as WMM.

I know what you mean, I film in widescreen, but WMM can’t seem to export in that. If anyone knows, please say, I’d love to know.

Cheers,
Mike

wmm2 can only edit 4:3 or 16:9 (4:3 is tv resolution (old style tv that is) or 1024x768 monitors etc…)

16:9 is movie format. My guess is that you are filming in 16:10 (1400x900 or 1680x1050) and so wmm screws up?

"Windows Movie Maker 2 is one of the simplest video editors available today, making it perfect for beginners. It’s also free, which is always a good thing. However, its simplicity comes at a price: it’s rather restricted in some ways. For instance, WMM2 can only edit at two different aspect ratios: 4:3 and 16:9. It can’t handle resolutions bigger than 640x480 (4:3) or 640x360 (16:9), and will resize anything bigger to fit (and it won’t keep the original aspect ratio). This wouldn’t be such a bad thing, except that its resizing sucks. "

ok so i guess reading this you need to reduce the resolution of the film to something it likes so then it wont do a botch job of resizing it?

hope that helps

ok thanks i want to get a better editing program.

Get Sony Vegas, i think u can get the demo for free. That makes ur videos widescreen or get Adobe Premier but i think sony vegas is better because u can choose the output format where as Adobe u cant. I used Sony Vegas in my new video you saw.
