How to copy photos to a CD-R?

Hey I finally got a digital camera (well on loan for three months anyhow) and now that I’ve got folders full of fine uni shots and tons of pics of our new pup… I can’t seem to copy them to a CD-R. Any suggestions?
BTW, I run Windows XP, use Irfanview for the photos and have Nero Express burning program. Still when I try drag and drop, no go. Also, when I select ‘send to’ in windows I don’t get the option of sending the photos to the CD drive. I’ve tried Windows Media Player and Real Player as well…still, no back ups on disk for me…what am I doing wrong…?!

I’m not bad at burning audio CD’s but this is my first try at copying photos to CD and I’m not having any luck.

Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
thanks

Erin:
If you are using XP, you can just open up windows explorer, and drag all your pics from the pics directory into the cd directory (drive d or e possible?)

When you drag these here, they are only waiting to be written, and are in the disc’s temp files.

just right click in amongst these files on the cd (on the background, not a particular file) and select ‘write these to cd’

Thanks Sofa, I’ll give that a try.
