How long between riding days?

All,

I am recently new to being able to really ride the unicycle for extended periods. I am wondering how long you normally wait between riding days?

What I mean is, on thursday, I rode for 90 minutes. On friday I rode for 20 or 30. On saturday, I rode for a solid 5 hours (my knees were sore that evening, but were fine by sunday). On sunday, I rode again for 90 minutes.

Today (monday) my knees are fine, no problems. My thighs are kinda sore though, and so I figure I should take a break today, at least.

I’m wondering, do any of you deliberately make yourselves rest for a certain interval of days? Is there an agreement on what is a good rest period? Is one day of rest enough? How many days “on” do you go before a rest?

Or is it all up to the individual?

As a general rule, you want to have one or two rest days a week for
any athletic activity. However, as you get better at unicycling it
will drop out of the realm of athletic activity unless you’re doing
tricks or pressing your limits. My daily commute takes about 30
minutes on the uni, and while I don’t ride it every day (at least not
on one wheel), I wouldn’t feel like I needed a rest if I were riding
it every day. But when I play two or three hours of uni basketball, I
definitely feel like I should take the next day off. (Especially
since I usually do that on Sunday, and I usually ride a significant
hill up to my bridge game on Monday night and regret it).

Cool. In my case, I pushed it a little for me. As soon as I had my breakthrough on thursday where suddenly I just clicked and could basically go “whereever”, I rode a lot, for me.

I am glad (though slightly sad) that I took a 1-day break from it yesterday.

Today I will probably get about an hour in before dinner I hope.
