I had a look around in the search and only found 1 or 2 interesting pictures so I was wondering what people did to make their helmets look different/interesting?
In the shops you only get either plain colour or a pattern that you’ve already seen 20 different people wearing on your way to the store…
Anyways. As a solution (and of boredom) I did this to my helmet today with a sticker and some nail varnish
It’s a Gusset logo that came free when I bought new pedals for my unicycle. I put it on there in my original attempt to make my helmet interesting a while ago
Is it safe to use nailvarnish on these things?
Isn’t there a chemical danger of weakening the helmet?
I think we’ve come a long way as a community and a sport when we can have a discussion about making your helmet interesting, and not if you should wear one or not.
I think most of the brain protection comes from the inner foam on helmets so weakening the outer shell shouldn’t be a big deal, I mean it already has holes in it right?
I never wear a helmet when I ride for fun. Only when I work.
I have different helmets for different country’s
default (coffee)
Great Britian (high tea)
Gulf region (Karak)
And while writing this up I just realize the pointy piece of wood in pic #3 made serious damage to my skull, not too long ago. I heard a nasty “crack!!” when I hit it, then it started bleeded soo much, I was in doubt it would stop. I’m still not wearing helmets in my house to prevent this kind of injury.
Possibly, yet I have to assume that the protection comes from the structural integrity of the entire helmet.
Unless someone can tell me otherwise?
Sorry to sound like a party-pooper here, I just remember some dire warnings about putting stickers on skating helmets all those years ago, I’m just trying to find out if those concerns are still valid.
