How I justify buying unicycle stuff.

Unicycles and related equipment are anything but free. People think that they are pointless, that they are useless. People think that splined unis, which are expensive, are a waste of money.

People are wrong, and I will prove it.

Here is my example. I told somebody I know about MUni (well, he asked about it as it was in my MSN name). He just said: “Mountain Unicycling? Thats the most retarted waste of time ever.”

Is it really? This same guy baught a PSP and has a bunch of games and is getting a Xbox 360 this week. Hmm, whats a bigger waste of time? Sitting on your ass and having fun pushing buttons or going outside with friends and getting excersise while having a blast?

This justifies my unicycle expenses as well. My friends are all into the whole video game thing. I am not. I own an XBox that I baught long ago, a purchase which I regret, because I never use the thing (and I never want to). Him on the other hand, well, lets see (all in CND).
PSP: $229.99
Logitek Case (which he owns): $34.99
1 gig memory card: $79.99
XBox 360: $499.99
Thats 844.96 before taxes, or with taxes where I live it comes to: $963.25

Then we add buying a game for each system per month for a year. Each game costs about $50. I think this is a fair average.
So for one year, with taxes at a rate of $50 per game comes to: $1368.

Holy crap. Lets add that up. For one year, his gaming expenses will be around $2331.25. Thats a lot of unicycles. For that coin, I could buy two KHs, a Koxx signature freestyle, some BCs and still have money to spare!

So what makes more sense? Paying more to sit on your ass and have fun or paying less to get off the couch, get outside, get excersise and have fun! You tell me.

By not buying things like video games, I can reason spending money on unicycles.

How do you justify buying your uni stuff?

Refuse to justify.

Live to ride. Ride to live.

Refuse to justify.

Yeah. Riding does rule. But it is nice to look and see that unicycling isn’t a waste of money. It is anything but one.

i tihnk i might sig that

I don’t really justify my stuff… except, what else am I going to spend my money on?

Its my money, I am making the purchase of my unicycle, so it isnt costing anybody else anything, so they shouldn’t worry.

Thats how it is with everything I buy.

EDIT: Just because someone thinks its a waste of money for me to buy a new uni or uni parts, I am not gonna let their thoughts and opinions on the sport I love stop me.

Look at the choices:

Crack?

Or a new unicycle?

For me, it can be hard to justify buying a new uni, since I’m at the age where I need a car but don’t have one, yet my family can’t afford one. So, do I save for a car, or put it towards unicycling?

unFortunately, all my money I’m making currently is going toward the wreck I was in, so…don’t have to worry much about where my money is flowing. :stuck_out_tongue:

I don’t see the X-Box as a waste per-se… I love video games, but the fact of the matter is that I prioritize unicycling above gaming, and between work/school/uni/friends, I don’t have time to game very often. People who think muni/trials/uni is a waste of time are generally ignorant of the sport, lets face it, it’s not in the public conscience much

So how do I justify the money I’ve spent? Easy!
28 years old.
Can pass for 20.
In better shape then when I was 17.

Boo and/or ya!

I justify unicycling by looking around at all the Damn lazy fatasses who waddle in and out of Mcdonalds and Starbucks EVERY DAMN DAY!! with the cost of a esspesso and a hamburger off the dollar menu plus another dollar for a small French Fry, lets calculate all this, a cheap Starbucks coffee is about $1.40, and a Frappuccino is $4.90. Most people I see are walking out with a Frappuccino every day, so $4.90 every day for a year thats about $1,788.50 for just a Frappuccino everyday, now a coffee would be $1.40 per day for a year is $72.99 per year… and if you were to add the cost of a burger and fries everyday as well thats $104 per year so drinking a coffee or Frappuccino and eating a burger and fries every day can cost between $177.27 and 1,892.50 thats plenty of money for unicycling gear… and it’s better for your health if you don’t eat burgers, fries, and a coffee/Frappuccino every day…

sorry about calling everyone who eats at the places i mentioned fatasses but i am really Pissed off at the moment…

I justify like this.

Lol, I thought this was that excact thread, but then realized it wasnt.

I ask, “How much do you spend on your sports, recreation and hobbies?” That alone is usually enough, even if you do other sports, recreations or hobbies. Unicycling is cheap? I have a garage full of them, but it’s mostly about the space, not how much I spent over the years.

Here’s how to justify and monetary expediture:

step 1: do you want it? if yes, go to step 2
step 2: can you reasonably afford it? if yes, go to step 3
step 3: will it cause any ill effect? and does the good outweigh the bad? if yes, go to step 4
step 4: buy it.

thats deep man^

Don’t justify by comparing it to other things… just say it’s my sport and i love it.

i’ve never justified to anyone about it though

I justify like Veruka (the chick off Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory)

“I WANT IT NOW”

Edit: Either that, or a swift punch to the kidneys. That’ll learn them to disrespect my sport.

I know one of my “friends” says unicycing is spastic and that the unicycle was built for crippels! I hate him now!

If it’s your money, the only person you have to justify it to is yourself. Since you already know it makes sense then you’ve already done that.

PS (It may help to avoid being judgemental about what other people spend thier money on and just believe that we all have a right to chose to spend our money on whatever we see fit)
