How does your state rank?

How’s your state for MUni access?
It’s a pitty about Mississippi.

Re: How does your state rank?

California is correctly scored pretty low for obvious reasons. It’s such a
great place to live that many people want to live here, so there is lots of
competition for resources like trails. One time before a Sunday afternoon
Muni ride, I had a couple of unicycles saving the last parking spot in the
large lot for a friend who was about to arrive. I had to dive for cover when
an enraged guy drove up in his SUV wanting to go hiking. He appeared willing
to run over me, then threatened to beat me up - for a parking spot! (I was
laughing at the absurdity of it)

So I guess the state is full which makes it not such a great place to
live…but we still manage as best we can.

Idaho is ranked high for good reason - there’s just so many places to ride and relatively few people. I can’t say how many times I’ve ridden the local trails (mountain bike and MUni) without seeing another person the whole time.

Re: How does your state rank?

Greetings,

Alaska is near the top of the list with a B+, I can definitely live with
that! The article states, “Most areas terra incognita” I just like the
way that sounds.

Cheers,

Jason

What is this word Mountain you speak of?

I noticed that Illinois didn’t fare too much better than Mississippi. Someday when Nationals are held here, we’ll substitute a uni ride through a fully functioning car wash for the mountain downhill event. Should be fun.

There are many wonderful things about Utah… This is only one of them…

Re: How does your state rank?

I’m still having some adjustment problems–having just moved from Washington
State to South Dakota. It’s nice to see the high ranking we get!

I’ve mounted my studded Nokians on my Muni, but I’m waiting for the ice on the
lake to get thick enough. It will be cooool.

Florida is ranked up there pretty high with a B+. I agree. Down here in Southeast Fla. we have a great thing going with the County and State parks. There are “mountainbike” trails in all of the major parks here. Some tougher that others, but all of them will provide plenty of challenges to anyone on a uni. Obviously no mountains, but plenty of very steep climbs and fast descents that will make you want to kiss your 170 and 175mm cranks.
I’ve never seen anyone else on a MUni at any of the parks. The mountain bikers are great. They can’t believe someone rides the tralis on one wheel, they are usually amazed and very respectful.
Markham Park which is west of Ft. Lauderdale, just east of the Everglades is the most demanding and technical of all. I think it’s almost an eight mile network. The county parks are free on the weekdays, $1 on weekends and holidays. Aside from my son, I’ve never seen anyone else on a MUni at any of the parks. The mountain bikers are great though. They can’t believe someone rides the tralis on one wheel, they are usually amazed and very respectful.

If anyone is planning to be in the Miami/Ft.Lauderdale area, let me know, I'll show you around.
